Intelligent Fitness: The Smart Way to Reboot Your Body and Get in Shape (with a foreword by Daniel Craig)

Good book: not for absolute beginners
Very different to most fitness books I’ve used in the past as there’s very little in the way of organised programmes to follow. Simply put, the advice is to build a programme based around your goals, generally using Simon’s 5:2 idea, but not always. You adapt the programme as you go, varying daily / weekly / monthly effort based on your motivation and feelings on the day.Personally, I’m finding it really free-ing to focus on what I want to achieve from my training, instead of feeling a failure when I don’t follow precisely what another person I’ve never met suggests. This has meant I have to be mindful of my daily programme, adding or reducing load based on my physical and mental state. It also means I can always achieve what I set out to do, whilst working towards longer or shorter goals.Another reviewer has mentioned a lack of nutrition planning or advice - again, like the programming, I agree it’s not for beginners but the simple advice of ‘eat more whole foods’, don’t be too hard on yourself and modify your eating according to long-term goals seems to be make sense to me.However, deffo not for real beginners, but free-ing and inspiring if you’ve been around the fitness block a few times.

It’s okay
Give a good insight into some good habits and facts about nutrition but don’t expect to take too much away. You get 1 set/session of workout plan per celeb, I can’t see how Daniel Craig repeated that 5-6 says a week - because he wouldn’t have. It’s based on the 5-2 rule which is fine but if you want to get into great shape there just isn’t enough detail in here to get you there. As I say, good read but not much to take away.

It’s a guide to help you make good decisions.
So, after a long wait it finally came. I have been following the book and assimilating the information. It offers a view on training which differs to the traditional ground and pound. The content isn’t easy (well as easy as you wish it to be I suppose) but is structured and descriptive to a point. You need to have a bit of knowledge or history in training your body. The reason I say this, is if you tailor the program to suit your own needs, then you would be installing your own activities into the schedule.I can confirm after over 6 years dormant, these sessions can be completed in under 30 mins with a rep rage of 15 to 10. So it will fit into your day easily. The guy is clearly a legend, so I am following the theory and the dietary info. You can complete this with little to no equipment, but there is a suggestion of what you may need. All in all I am happy. It’s a good read also and delivered well.

Not much detail, one programme per celebrity, find more info on internet - disappointing.
Always interesting to know how PT's train Celebrities etc - but I was expecting something a bit more detailed rather than just one programme per celebrity.Training has to have variety and periodisation of which this doesn't mention and not enough about their diets. What we wanted really was a breakdown of exactly what the PT did for the celebrities to get the bodies we see in the films. This book is not it.Images and exercise description are also very poor for such a high profile client list. You will find more info on internet than what's in this book - disappointing.

I suppose it has its merits
Like others said I was looking forward to this book in just glad I bought the ebook as it only cost me £9.99 and not the more expensive hardcopy price.I was hoping for a greater insight into the training programs for Daniel Craig as we are the same age but to say I was disappointed is an understated. Saying that I like different protocols and like the idea of the 5-2 method so I will be having a look at that a bit more.If someone is new to training then this book could help so I suppose it has its merits.

Excellent book on several levels
This is health and fitness book that works really well at several levels. Firstly, it’s a fascinating insight into the world of film and what actors do to achieve their screen personas. The book is full of interesting anecdotes, some of which are great standalone stories, others provide the individual with useful information that they can take into their own health and fitness journeys.Secondly, there is a lot of really useful general health and fitness tips and information as well as specific training programs that can be utilised by anyone. It’s obvious that Simon Waterson has managed to stay current in the film industry for so long because he knows what’s he’s doing.I’d highly recommend this book to anyone interested in either the film industry, health and fitness or both.

Exercise
Disappointed. Bought the commando workout book years ago by the same author which is an excellent book and would happily give five stars. But this is not the greatest on content has more of an author namedropping his clients feel to it.
