Alstar 60mm Compact Deluxe Finder & Guidescope Kit with 1.25" Double Helical Focuser

Optics are way under par. Construction is fine, the set screws nubs were already bent. Unfortunately these scopes are mass produced and just named differently and priced differently. Theres an $80 version on here somewhere. Orion, Alstar, Astromania, SVBony, theyre all the same scope.For $149, youre better off buying one from Stellarvue, although it doesnt come with set rings.Im being generous with 3 stars, if youre lucky, you can get a good enough copy i suppose. My copy was not good though.

It looks like there are a few different brands of this scope. At least one brand doesn't have the brass compression rings to hold the camera but this one does. It only comes with one thumbscrew to hold the extension tube and the extension tube does wiggle with only the one screw; I had a couple spare thumbscrews that fit and the tube is now solid. I've been using it as a guide scope and mounted where the finder scope goes. So far it's been working great.
