Fantastic series for learning GO
The five books in the Janice Kim series on learning to play GO are by far the best books for beginners and improvers to learn the game of GO in depth. The Way of the Moving Horse, second in the series is excellent at extending the basics and really helping you to understand the finer detail of GO which can be bewildering for a beginner. Following on from the first book it goes into the tactics and strategies of play. You will also find yourself referring back to this book as you progress with playing GO.I have bought a number of beginner's GO books before, but none of them were as well structured as the Kim books, Also I believe you cannot fit all the scope and subtleties of GO in a single book.If you are keen to study GO at a beginner or improving level, buy this series.

A Good guide to the elementary aspects of GO
This is the 2nd volume in a 4 volume set by the same authors. This book is 166 pages and takes the reader forward from where volume 1 left off.The book is divided into two sections: Section one called Principles covers such aspects of play as the opening, enclosures and approaches, and invasion and reduction. Section two called Skills gives information on skills such as how to attack, how to defend and ending the game. At the end of the book is a synthesis in which the author provides 25 questions and detailed answers on material covered in book. The book suffers from the same fault as volume one in that the material is sparsly presented, however it still took me a number of read throughs to grasp some of the finer points of the material. It is also a pity that the authors no longer put a question and answer session at the end of each chapter as they had done in volume 1 as this would certainly assist in grasping the material.Howevr in conclusion I feel that this is an improvement on volume 1, the material is slightly more advanced and this alone certainly gives the reader the feeling that he/she has got his moneys worth. As it did in my case
