Stereotypical characters
The story was entertaining, fairly straight forward with no surprises. The characters are stereotypical cliches with the expected sprinkle of PC rhetoric. The only reason none of these kids were minorities was so the counselor could deliver "the wake-up call" that if they were poor and/or black they would be in jail, not rehab.***Semi-spoiler*** Jason's dad was the typical ex military bully who beat his kid to make a man out of him, Olivia's mom was the wealthy socialite who have her daughter Rx diet pills, Christopher's mom the fat, clueless, Christian who keeps her son locked away from the win of the world, and Eva's dad the educated professor who, of course, when pointed out he is part of the problem, takes action and becomes the amazing parent. Of the teens, they are as if the author took the Breakfast Club kids and tried to remake them for today. The big "surprise" is the one " hiding" his sexual identity. Which of course would be the Christian guy because that's never been done. For all my criticism, and it is vast, it you have an hour or so, a subscription to Kindle Unlimited (it is not worth paying for), and you don't let the stereotypes bother you, it is entertaining, and not terrible. If the author would stop trying to make sure she has every base diversity covered and just write, I would read more. Her style is flowing and moves quickly, the details are there but not so many to interrupt the story. Just work on character development. Stop trying to check off all the boxes.

Yaaaaas Queen for writing teenagers as humans
I love Amy Reed so when I bought more of her books I was excited cause she's usually a great writer. I loved this book and there were no characters I disliked. And I love that all of these characters were relatable on some level to myself. They have very human problems despite being in a situation I've never been in. Trying to impress parents, dealing with sexual abuse, body image, dealing with the major loss of a parent. You don't have to have been a drug addict to understand the problems of these characters. I found myself tearing up at one point from the relatability.I would forever lend this book to anyone who loves stories like this. I finished it in four days, that's how much I enjoyed it. It encourages growth and self help. Because loving yourself is important, especially if you're a young person. Kudos bitch. Amy Reed is that bitch. <3

Review by YABookHaven
Every now and then there is a book that pulls you in from the very first page with no intention of letting you go. "Clean" is that book for me. What's so fantastic about "Clean" is that it's real, it's raw - it doesn't shy away from anything."Clean" tells the stories of Kelly, Olivia, Eva, Christopher, and Jason during their stay in rehab. Each of their stories is different, but all so important. Reading "Clean" took me back to high-school. I remember what it felt like to be broken and how it took everything to recover from that feeling. To me, "Clean" should be a recommended book for all teenagers. Yes, the story is told in a rehab center. Yes, the characters have addictions. But the story is also much more. It's a story of self discovery, of finding the voice within one's self.I enjoyed every bit of this book and I'd highly recommend it.

Pretty good
3 stars because the characters only somewhat became three dimensional near the end. A lot of them were pretty stereotypical or tropey and even though they went through changes as they recovered from their addictions, it wasn't the most believable in terms of dialogue. This book felt like it had a lot of potential but also like it skipped around too much. I enjoyed that there were different characters from "different walks of life" but it is often easier to have one main character or narrator than to have many all on one page. Perhaps I am just getting older and growing out of the teen book category but I felt that this book was lacking a lot.

A good read
I feel like there should have been more to this story. It seemed as though it was cut short. I wanted to know the back story of Christopher's mom and I wanted to find out more about their lives when they returned home. It was a page turner but it was very short read in my opinion. However, I feel this is something a troubled teen should definitely read and think on.

BEST BOOK
It Is one of the best books i have ever read!!!! i kind of wish the book went a bit longer to tell us how they continued to be sober or if they didnt, or how olivias new treatment home is, or how Jason is in the military , or if Christopher ever saw Todd again , or how Eva and her father turned out. . So many questions left but it will always be a favorite

Good book for teens and early twenties.
I enjoyed it. I purchased it on accident and decided to read it anyway. It was probably and accurate discription of what goes on in a rehab center. It was written well from each character's point of view and the sturgles teen's anywhere have to go through. It describes bullying and social groups pretty well.

Even if you don’t have an addiction, I think you’ll really enjoy this.
Without spoiling the story, Clean is a really well written novel about a group of teenage drug-addicts who have to spend time in rehab. The characters are all authentic. I could relate to every single member of Shirley’s group in some way, and here’s the thing; there is so much deepness put into each one of them and they feel so realistically human that you feel like you’ve really been through rehab with them once you’ve finished reading this.In my humble opinion Amy Reed has crafted a genuinely good novel about youth, addiction and a reality which as far as I’m aware isn’t often explored so brilliantly in the young adult genre.5/5

Clean

Do not recommend
I got the book a year or so ago and never got around to reading and this year I started reading again and picked up this book and I was expecting a dramatic sad book about getting clean from whatever but this book didn’t have any plot twists or dramatic moments and I felt it was really hard to read all the way through and it was really hard to keep my attention.
