Q: can you install two units for more effect

Having 2 units would make the sound louder and more annoying yes. However one max unit should work on up to 5 dogs and should be loud enough to train them.

Q: Will it affect my own dogs if it is set for neighbors dog?

"Set for the neighbor's dog" means pointed at the neighbor's dog. The output speaker on the front of the Silencer is about half an inch in diameter and emits sound that expands in a cone shape directly in front of the speaker. So the speaker should be pointed at the nuisance dog. Your dogs can hear it too, but will choose to go behind the speaker if possible or behind a wall of the house. My neighbors's dogs quit barking and actually go to the far side of their house to put the building in between them and the speaker. Your dogs will do the same. They will move out of the sound cove or go behind something that blocks the sound. And yes, the Silencer will train your dogs to quit barking too. I hope this helps.

Q: Is this for the silencer or faceplate only?

This is the dog silencer unit without the cover. I am having my IT team look into the mistake on the heading for this order. It should not offer the faceplate yet as we don't have them available at this time for Amazon.
