On January 27th, 2016, folk icon Joan Baez celebrated her 75th birthday with a historic performance at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The special event honored her legendary 50-plus years in music in an intimate, career-spanning live performance. Baez performed alongside fellow artists and friends, including: David Bromberg, Jackson Browne, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Judy Collins, David Crosby, Indigo Girls, Emmylou Harris, Damien Rice, Paul Simon, Mavis Staples, Nano Stern and Richard Thompson.

Almost as perfect as ever
I remember Joan Baez when I first heard her singing " All My Trails" on Alan Keith's "Your Hundred Best Tunes" years ago, and I have been a fan ever since. I felt that the DVD warmed up, and my favourites came from the latter part of the recording featuring Jackson Browne, Paul Simon and Nano Stern. Another favourite was the duet with Judy Collins ( another legend ). Some of the soloists were a bit disappointing, although I would certainly award five stars to all the instrumentalists including Joan herself. However, and this is where people will disagree with me, as much as I loved her voice for all those years it has lost some of its quality, and although she chose her repertoire wisely, I felt that it would be time to give up in the near future. But I certainly would watch this again, and maybe buy a cd by Nano Stern.

Beautiful songs by a wonderful singer & a great selection of guest artists.
This is a wonderful collection of songs performed by a woman with a truly great voice! The many guests (most of whom are old friends) add great riches to the overall performance. This music spans many genres & will appeal to countless numbers of people who enjoy quality performances by quality artists.

Outstanding concert
Excellent! I recommend this dvd to anyone who appreciates good music and songwriting. There are many highlights in this concert and choosing a favourite is probably unfair because all the guest performers who shared the stage with Joan Baez are outstanding. However, I particularly enjoyed Joan singing The Boxer with Paul Simon and Before the Deluge with Jackson Browne. Joan still has a remarkable singing voice and can still deliver a memorable performance.

Five Star Joan
This DVD is a fitting tribute to Joan Baez in her 75th year. There are lots of old favourites and Joan is joined by many of her past collaborators to make this special recording. If you are a fan you will probably love it; if you are new to Joan's brand of contemporary/folk music, this is an excellent introduction to her back calalogue.

A Musical Gem.
This is a wonderful tribute to Joan Baez by many of her contemporaries. She is joined on stage by Jackson Brown, Damien Rice, David Crosby, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls, Paul Simon and many others. Her voice is still great and the audience are clearly having a great time. It's one of my favourite DVDs.
