Jester Musical Jack in the Box

My grandaughter loved this

This is a repeat buy (for my granddaughter) - my grandson had one about 4 years ago. I think it’s quite pricey for what it is but as it was well received…… I’m hoping the arm/ crank doesn’t get broken now there’s an older child ‘helping’ his little sister but she’s very taken with ‘Jack’ in the box!

Very colourful and fun but the catch was faulty on arrival - the jester could not be kept in the box. Reluctantly returning it.

With the plethora of electronic gadgetry available to my four year old both at home and at nursery, it was somewhat of a surprise when he asked for a ‘Jack in the Box’ for Christmas. Having trawled through the various boxes on sale, I plumbed for this one and its rather classic design and colour.The box itself is made of metal and plays the traditional ‘Pop Goes the Weasel’ nursery rhyme in the same twinkly way you might associate with an old wind-up music box. The ‘Jack’ pops out at the end of the tune, and the box resets itself once you have completed the full tune, allowing you to close the lid (if you try before the tune is complete, the latch sits open) and start again.The reason I have only given this four stars is because after just a day or two of play (by a four and one year old), the mechanism has malfunctioned slightly and the Jack now pops out halfway through the tune rather than at the end. I don’t think my children have been overly rough with this product, but I suspect that the internal mechanism is fairly delicate and so it is perhaps not something to let younger children ‘run riot’ on.Overall, a nice product and good quality.

My 3yo Grandson loves it. It lives at his house, I believe it is in daily use.

This is a great little toy, kids loved it. Although I do think it’s expensive for what it is. But then again the aren’t many options for them.
