Philips Lumea Prestige IPL Cordless Hair Removal Device with 2 Attachments for Body and Face - BRI950/00

I waited a while before posting a review and the wait has been worth it. The machine came with a beautiful leather feel pouch which I store it in when not in use. I have the 2 attachment option. One facial attachment and one body attachment.I am now 6 treatments in and the hair on my leg is pretty much gone. It has grown back extremely sparse and fine over a few weeks and even then it's scarcely noticeable.My upper lip is complete after 5 treatments and there has been no hair growth since.I did read that many people thought it hurt. It doesn't. Well at least not in most places. Legs, arms and upper lip for me were pain free. Underarms, however, can be quite painful. Enough to make you recoil upon being lasered. Lowering the intensity helps, although it is less effective in ridding you of the hairs.I also tried the Lumea on my face below cheek bones as advised. I didn't have hair, just very light peach fluff. I regret that enormously. A day after the treatment, my whole face broke out into very angry, raised red lumps and spots. It's been 2 weeks and they're still healing ever so slowly. I am not acne prone and I rarely get break outs so I wasn't too happy. However, you have been warned, so be careful if you intend to use the Lumea anywhere near your face.Overall, I'd say that this was probably the best £300+ pounds spent. Just make sure you keep on top of treatments and record them on the Lumea app available on the app and play store.If you're in doubt, just go ahead. It's honestly worth every penny.

My hair used to grow so fast that if I shaved my legs at night I couldn't wear a skirt in the morning. I bought this device 2 months ago and have done 4 sessions 2 weeks apart, I have just returned from a 7 day holiday where I didn't even bring razor to!I started to see less hair growth after 2 sessions, and after 4 sessions in I can now go 7_10 days without noticing any hair in my underarms/legs/bikini area. My skin has got so smooth and when the hair grows back, which is like just 20% of the amount before, it's very soft and fine. I have noticed large amount of bold areas increasing after each session. I gotta say though that this hurts! It recommended 4 for me but I can't go higher than 3, it's just too painful. In bikini area I have to use 2. I would advise to do 1 leg and let the machine cool down and do another leg few hours after, as it gets quite hot and starts to hurt more.I plan to continue with sessions every 2 weeks and I can see never touching a razor again. This machine just exceeded my expectations and has really boosted my confidence as I can now wear dresses every day without having to worry about shaving which I despised so much!I highly recommend it, worth every penny even at full price! ( I got it for £280, lucky me)

I loathe shaving my legs, etc. As I have dark hair it grows back almost as soon as I’ve shaved, and waxing means you have to go through a ‘hairy stage’ between. I looked at this for a while, put off by the price tag but got one during Black Friday. I was a bit scared that it would hurt, having read other reviews and when my setting came up as high on the skin test... but I followed other reviewers advice and shaved 2 days before first use. It didn’t hurt at all. It’s kind of alarming as you feel like you’re holding a Star Trek phaser and the light that it uses is BRIGHT but apparently not harmful to your eyes... I try not to look at it anyway. Oh my though! The results were visible even after the first use. I’m due to use it the third time now (there’s a phone app to remind you) and there’s already very little hair left on my legs. I haven’t even finished the cycle of treatments and I already LOVE the amount of time and hassle saved over the past month. If you can afford it, you won’t regret it.

I'm blond with fairly light body hair and yet it the IPL works for me very well. After five sessions, my leg hair are barely growing. The machine is not very painful (in comparison to epilator which I use before). The only negative is how long the machine works cordless - usually I can only finish one leg before I have to connect the IPL machine to power.

I bought this on an impulse during a flash sale. I was a little sceptical even after reading a few online reviews on IPL, but thought even if it could reduce the amount of shaving required it might be worth it. After 2 months of using it I am very pleased.I think the manufacturer's boast of 92% reduction in 3 treatments is a little optimistic. It takes a little while to get used to it, and as hard as I try I always seem to miss a few spots. Top tip from another website - use white pencil or chalk to draw a line up your leg, then work up/down the leg in straight lines. After 5 leg treatments I have seen a substantial reduction in hair growth, and have gone from shaving every other day to every 1 or 2 weeks. It's worth bearing in mind your skin tone also - I have very pale skin and dark hair and this is the combination that works best with IPL.I have a very low pain tolerance so this was something that worried me! The device will suggest a strength for your skin (the paler your skin, the stronger you can go), and I found a 5 on my legs was no issue, but on underarms/bikini area it was a little uncomfortable - a sudden hot/stinging sensation. No problem, just reduce the strength a little. You should remove all hair from your intended treatment areas in advance, even a little stubble makes it far more uncomfortable.
