Wow
I've attached a couple of unretouched, straight-from-the-camera examples that hopefully show the sharpness and bokeh of this lens, in low and bright light. What's great about the Sigma 30mm f/1.4? Firstly it's sharp and bright! I was able to get pin-sharp results handheld at night with just a table lamp in the room. Secondly, it feels like quality; with nice weight in the hand and is reassuringly solid to the touch. The focus ring turns like butter: perfect. Value for money, this is a no-brainer: the Sigma lens is easily as good or better than more expensive alternatives. My only possible question about this lens is the bokeh, which I'm still trying to make up my mind about. Purely subjective of course but is it a bit busy in bright light? Overall, this is a definite "buy" if you are looking for a very good quality lens with a bright aperture and don't want to spend a mint.

A must-have m4/3 lens....with an advisory
I have recently switched to Micro Four Thirds from Four Thirds, and this lens has been the best thing about the move. Lives pretty much full-time on my Olympus OM-D EM10 Mk II (a great camera of itself). When I bought that I also got the Olympus 25mm f1.8.....an excellent lens in its own right, if there's a difference between that and the Sigma it's in the latter's colour rendering (I like full, rich colour and the Sigma deivers that in spades, maybe a little saturated for some tastes). And images are pin-sharp 9.5 times out of ten.The Sigma is a much bulkier lens than the Oly, but on the EM10 it adds substance to the overall look and feel of the camera in use. On the EM-5II it looks pretty standard, and is equally a joy to use.The advisory......reading about this lens online brings up references to a tendency to focus-hunt, even stopped down and in good light.....have to say I have seen this on the EM10 and it can be distracting. I will check it out on the EM5 as well. What appears to eliminate it is to set the camera to S-AF/MF, though I will monitor this aspect of performance. I can see that for some it would be a deal-breaker - it isn't for me as the all round optical performance is that good, and I'm finding 30mm a better focal length to work with than 25mm for everyday, carry-around use (though in a bag rather than a pocket given the size of the lens). On Olympus cameras the lens firmware is updated with the lens in-situ, and I'm using the most recent version. It's not a consistent issue, but it is a noticeable one, and hopefully there is a fix somewhere down the pipeline. I'm looking forward to the 16mm f1.4 version of this lens, and it would be a shame if that were similarly afflicted. But if you have an m43 camera, this is a lens you really must have. The focus issue is the only slight downside....in every other respect this is a lens you are likely to become seriously attached to. Go and enjoy.

Beautiful lens
I bought this for a Lumix G9 and it takes superb pictures, it is just so sharp. The G9 doesn't have great focus but this lens still manages to focus well and you will end end with super sharp images. The build quality is just superb, it is a bit heavy, but feel the quality. It is a must own lens for MFT users.

Great fast lens
Great fast lens for my GX9. Excellent bokeh and super shallow dept of field, perfect for environmental portraits. However Color fringing is intense with this lens, which not all can be corrected with Lightroom.

Absolute quality top lens
This lens is brilliantly sharp quick focussing. Wonderful smooth background bokeh with a very Shallow depth of field with its F1.4 aperture. Nice focus length for portraits on M4/3 equivalent to a 60mm on a full frame. Although its plastic construction its of a very good quality build the hood could be a little tighter. It's most definitely a very worthy lens and unless I get rid of my M4/3 camera this lens is going nowhere 10 out of 10

Love this little lens, extremely sharp and a real bargain for the money, well built with the usual sigma build quality

Brilliant lens for filming.
amazing lens. If you’re using a MFT camera, this lens is amazing for depth of field and low light performance. I purchased the 35mm and 16mm 1.4. A must!

Super sharp lens ideal for portraits and product shots
Feels really well made. Very smooth operation. Staggeringly sharp, even wide open. Lovely colour rendering. Bokeh is excellent, and the f1.4 aperture excels in low light or merely to isolate the subject. I am using this on GH5 and GX85 MFT bodies, so it translates to a 60mm in 35mm terms. Top class glass!

A must have
This lens is a must have. I can't believe it's that affordable! All made in Japan, very reactive autofocus, well build but light, and an image quality that none of my panasonic lens can achieve. The bokeh is beautiful, and at f1.4 it is a must have with a micro four thirds camera! The focus ring is not mechanical, and there is no aperture ring either. It's not a manual lense. But you get the exif data, you have a very good autofocus that is faster than my lumix zooms, and the focus by wire ring is very good and precise.I will probably get their 16mm or 56mm. Those lenses are incredible! Well built, and an unbeatable price!

Moderate price/value ratio.
For micro four thirds, I know it is half the price of the 25mm f1.4 from Lumix, but that lens is much more better than this. This lens can only be compared with 25mm f1.7 from Lumix again which is half the price of this one and also better than this one. If you go up till f2.8 you slowly start to get sharper photos but still with lots of chromatic aberration. When you finally reach to f4.5, it starts to behave normal. Since this lens is not specifically produced for mft mount, it is also big in size and weights a lot according to what it is capable of. Save some money and buy 25mm f1.7 from Lumix since it is much sharper at f1.7, really much less chromatic aberration and much lighter. But even though there is no wr rating specifically for the 30mm, the build quality is so good for the price. However! It is not the build quality that takes the photos.
