Not for children
Some scenes are a bit violent and may scare young children.

Good adventure movie. But helps if you know the true story.
It's a good movie, but I think a lot of the actual pain, suffering and sheer balls of these men is not clearly articulated by the movie. The true story is simply remarkable and the courage it took to simply drift out into the ocean in that day and age was extreme. These were true explorers with titanium nuts. Read the book, then watch the movie. if you don't know the full story then you may even find the movie a bit boring to be honest.

Get this AND the book, KON TIKI & I by Erik Hesselberg
Sadly this wonderful film was not widely distributed and it definitely needs the Big Screen experience to be fully appreciated so if you have a whopping great TV in your home or a good local film club you will find this beautifully filmed movie of the fascinating tale of the Kon Tiki expedition a visual feast. Anyone interested in Kon-Tiki should try to get hold of a 2nd hand edition of KON TIKI & I, written with great humour and wonderfully illustrated by the lesser-known Erik Hesselberg, a member of the expedition, whom you can see doodling in the film. I recommend reading this first and then seeing the film where you will have the added pleasure of relating Hesselberwg's drawings to scenes in the film.

Why are not such movies pressented to young audience - why they are poisoned by Simon Cowel faKeDbook crowd ?
Very nice made movie of Kon Tiki - it was the compulsory reading in my years of apprenticeship , where society tried to enlighten working class youth to culture and application - away from cigarette and beer culture of consumer-istic monotony. It succeeded with me.. and I believe with many others. The movie ends with comment on personal price what every step of progress in our thinking represents in loosing. Could you imagine if our leaders Blair Bush or Rice have got such experience as their own ? They surely would not be such blunders of misinterpretation of public life.

A story I have always loved and a story I am reading at the moment
A story I have always loved and a story I am reading at the moment. Sadly the old filmmakers "lets make it more adventurous" seemed to have come into it. Although a lot was as the book, even to the comments, a few bits were fictional, these few did not need to be changed to make the film watchable. They only serve to give viewers who don't know the story a false account of a truly heroic quest.
