Finished this series and am lending it to my niece. Series goes into depth about the world of Gensokyo which frankly deserves much more attention. Players of the series should invest few bucks into the literature, hope we continue getting more series in the future.I'd love in the future if the world of Gensokyo was discussed on par with Narnia, Hogwarts, and other fantasy realms that exist parallel to ours. Chapters are episodic but show character development. Characters are caught in a clever balancing act between a variety of 'monstrous' youkai and humans. Uniquely there is no romantic subplots, and characters develop relationships based on their overarching objectives within Gensokyo. For those unfamiliar, the entire cast of main characters in the Touhou series are females. There is a good variety of novel archetypes in the series for underrepresented demographics to relate to.

What a surprise to have a Touhou manga series be localized, but quite a nice surprise. The book itself feels great to hold, the pages are all in fine shape, and everything else is just as good. The translators did a fantastic job making the story understandable for a western audience while still being clever with the writing, (something most Touhou fan translations don't always have going for them.) The stories presented are rather simple in nature, but that's to expected from Touhou, and it's overall a very fun read if you're interested in the series. On the whole, I very much enjoyed my time reading the book and I earnestly look forward to future volumes.

ZUN's writing really shines in the manga format, showing the carefree lives of the girls of Gensokyo while also revealing interesting new magical threats is pure Touhou. You may even find yourself learning more about mythology, I know I'll be getting the rest. Definitely pick this up if you're a fan of the series and want to support it.

It was a great read, the first Touhou printed work to get an official localization, and I sincerely hope that others such as Curiosities of Lotus Asian and Wild and Horned Hermit can get the same treatment

Arrived within a week of ordering which was about 3 weeks earlier than listed. My son was very happy.

It's not an action story, but it's a pretty good story about a village of humans having to live alongside monsters who are far from safe.

This manga is so good. I'm hoping I can buy an another one in the future.

This is a really good manga made by zun, id recommend it if you are already familiar with touhou characters yokai etc, its a good story and i will buy no.2 soon! I hope they make more series's!

Una historia muy interesante bien narrada y dibujada directa del autor de los juegos.

First official Touhou manga I've read. Book quality is alright, print is really clear. Translation is as good as it can get. Without going into detail, story is definitely good. Waiting for Vol. 2P.S The book was shipped to me without wrapping or any form or the protection. Some corners of the book were worn out.
