Riveting!
A riveting psychological thriller. So full of intrigue, suspense, chills, and a roller coaster ride with twists and turns, that had my adrenaline surging, my heart galloping and my nerves frazzled, beyond relief, holding me captive with every, little secret, and detail, until I could finished this book. And…Wow, what an ending!“Secrets they’re in the air burning through the sweet smell of friendship and leaving behind a bitterness I cannot quite name.”Librarian Mia Anderson has always felt invisible by those around her. But when she starts receiving messages from Adam Roth a handsome man she meets on a dating app, that she has never met in person, she is flattered to say the least. But all too soon what seemed to be a blossoming romance takes on a disturbing quality, and people in Mia’s world start to die. Maybe being unseen was for the best?I couldn’t put this one down!

“You Look Beautiful Tonight” - A flawed, painful read
This book was a May 2023 freebie for Prime members. It’s early, but the initial 4-5 star rating and positive reviews are leaving me perplexed. The first half of the book moves very slowly, like a truck in the mud, spinning its wheels, begging to gain some traction. Author L.R. Jones is hell bent in driving home the fact that the main protagonist, Mia Anderson, is a shy, introspective librarian with low self esteem. 150 pages to paint a picture of this character to the point of boredom. We get it. Yes, she’s lonely. Yes, she has little confidence in herself. Yes, she feels invisible most of the time. This is hammered into the reader ad nauseam, repetitively, this “thriller” going nowhere fast. I considered giving up at the midpoint, but, the hope that some startling revelations were coming convinced me to keep muddling through. The second half of the book marginally picked up the pace. Mia has had a less than successful experience signing up on an online dating app at the urging of her best friend, Jess. Murders start happening. The book bounces between the past and the present, and the two never really become cohesive. The conclusion is less than satisfying, the surprise twist seeming unsurprising and telegraphed. It disappointingly missed the mark and did not live up to the description as a “thriller”.The book is generally well written and edited. Those averse to graphic violence, foul language and gratuitous sex will find themselves comfortable with the text. Unfortunately it missed the mark with this reader and proved to be a letdown. The elements for success were there but the plodding nature of the story did not allow their development. Can only muster 2 stars for this one.

Psychological Thriller
You Look Beautiful Tonight, is a psychological thriller that begs the question is it always better to be seen. Mia has spent her life blending into the background. So when she begins attracting attention, Mia questions at what price.
