From the Martial Arts Illustrated Hall of Famer, Stewart McGill. The box-set covers the following: defences against the 10 most common street attacks including pre-emptive strikes (2 discs); dealing with knife threats/attacks; dealing with handgun threats; grappling for self-defence on the ground and stand-up situations; defending other people under threat or attack; Urban Krav Maga is a highly effective martial art that utilises the experience of its Instructors in various styles of Krav Maga, MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jutsu and the traditional Martial Arts. Superb
I bought this DVD set for study as a supplement to my actual training in Urban Krav Maga (UKM). The content is excellent, particularly as a clear, practical, and pragmatic approach has been taken in the demonstration of the many techniques shown. In other words, the teaching is as reality-based as the techniques themselves. This includes discussions and demonstrations of messy fights, where taken by surprise, where not reacting in time, and so on. Adapt to the situation as best as possible.Everything shown is carefully explained, with multiple demonstrations, multiple variations of the techniques shown, and multiple camera angles, again with full explanations every step of the way.As an actual practitioner, of course I rate the actual techniques shown very, very highly. They are relatively simple, very brutal, and consequently obviously very effective. A particularly strong element of UKM - that will become apparent when at least going through the DVDs - is that many of the same moves and stances may be used and adapted to deal with a broad range of attacks and situations. This strikes me as being pure common-sense, makes the techniques much easier to learn, and seems to translate into having a much better chance of using them for real if need be. More so than having to learn a vast range of prescriptive techniques to counter an equally vast range of potential attacks (and the reaction times necessary to use them). For existing (and serious) practitioners, I recommend the set very highly. Again, it is a brilliant supplement to the actual training, with the inclusion of some interesting variations on what is taught in class, too. For those considering UKM / wanting to learn effective self-defense, while this is certainly no substitute for actual training provided by an instructor, it does provide real practical value, and will no doubt show what UKM is all about. I say this having some previous experience in other martial arts.

Must have
One of the best dvd self defence courses available. Simple and highly effective techniques broken down and explained in detail. This stuff works if you practice it! You could spend a fortune on stuff that promises 'fear no man's but turns out to be rubbish that could get you killed in a real confrontation...this is simple and highly effective

As good as it gets for video Krav Maga instruction.
This Urban Krav Maga 6 disc set is as good as it gets for video Krav Maga instruction. While I do not believe that video lessons are ever a substitute for real-life, practical training, this set is an excellent supplement. It was incredibly well thought out and easy to understand. Apart from using extremely effective, tried and true techniques, the multiple angles and speeds used to explain the techniques cut out the confusion. They don't rush anything, taking the adequate time to demonstrate and explain the details. One thing I found refreshing about the UKM videos is that they don't overdo the "macho marketing" which, let's face it, you almost can not avoid AT ALL when it comes to modern martial arts (MMA, etc.). Krav Maga is a no-nonsense brand of self defense meant for all types of people, and Mr. McGill and co. understand that very well. This set does not need to rely on gimmicks and scare tactics; a clear enough stamp of authenticity by my judgment!I was also pleased to learn that the people at UKM are super down to earth; gracious enough to respond to any questions I've had about the set. There are quite a few of their clips online to preview, if you are feeling hesitant to commit to the purchase. This is a great investment if you are serious about learning self defense.

Pricey, but fascinating.
I heard Bear Grylls talking about doing Krav Maga on a radio interview (apparently he trains most days). I bought the DVD 'sight unseen'. I'm very glad I did, as its very practical 'street' self-defence. If you can also find a regular class/school in your local area, it would be great training. "Don't do this at home, kids…" Please train responsibly, as this is what the likes of Mossad uses.

The only Krav Maga DVD worth buying
This is a well thought out and presented product that offers great value for money. The 6 DVD set is of a high quality and the content is delivered in an effective and easy to understand manner. What really makes the DVD work is the detail and attention given to every scenario ( and I do mean every scenario) that you could possibly encounter in real life. There isn't any time wasting or fillers in this set, just good material presented in an effective manner. I would say these DVDs are ideal for the student who wants to revise and learn/relearn moves, although I suspect it would also be a good introduction for a novice. If you are in the latter category go to [...] and sign up to some classes.

I do Urban Krav Maga classes and this DVD set is a great way to recap techniques as well as cover new techniques that I haven't covered in class yet. Really well filmed and clear instructions. Very pleased with this.I'd recommend this to anyone who does Urban Krav Maga, it's not a replacement for live classes, but it is very useful nonetheless.

Urban Krav Maga
Just over 6 months ago I looked out of my window to see what all the fuss was about. A bloke was on his mobile shouting for an ambulance. He'd been bottled and his ear was hanging off. I decided it might be wise to take up self-defence training!I joined a Shotokan Karate club which is great but it struck me that some of the fighting scenarios and fighting distances aren't that realistic. So far I've only watched disc 1 of the set but it has already addressed my concerns about distancing and realism.I will continue with the karate training because I enjoy it. But I will take my self-defence advice from this DVD. On what I've seen so far I'd highly recommend this DVD and look forward to working my way through the other discs.
