Another phenomenal show in danger of ending?
Having waited until I had watched another series I hadn't even taken the wrappings off this before the word reached me that the series had been (potentially) cancelled. Interestingly it may be that ABC are seeking the talent of Hayley Atwell for new show Conviction rather than an outright cancellation of Agent Carter. She may even be able to do both, I sure hope so!!As a, seemingly, minor role in the Captain America movies I was surprised and yet delighted that a series of the further exploits of Peggy Carter was under consideration. Hayley Atwell is not only stunningly beautiful but a very strong actress (for further proof see Pillars Of The Earth). The settings are beautifully created as post was America with the big cars, the diners and the typical office building setting for much of the drama. James D'Arcy is a true gentleman's gentleman and the perfect foil for Carter's "English" persona. When Howard Stark's inventions are stolen he turns to Peggy Carter to prove his innocence. As no more than a glorified tea maker Peggy is hardly reluctant to get involved and, over eight wonderful episodes, you are transported back to the post was era and the intrigue and espionage that was still going on despite the cessation of hostilities of the Second World War.The entire cast really bring the whole show alive with conviction and character but, for me, it is Hayley Atwell and James D'Arcy who shine the brightest. I have watched the entire season of eight 40minute episodes in two days (it was THAT good). I am hoping Season 2 will see release on DVD here in Britain and am sure that it will be as great as the first . Before Hayley left the world of Twitter I read many a funny anecdote about filming and hope to see what she was tweeting about.Fingers crossed ABC can allow her to make both shows and the world of Agent Carter will not be reduced to two seasons as Hayley and the team are a delight.

A great but short series
In the aftermath of the Second World War and the ‘death’ of Captain America, Peggy Carter is has become an Agent for America’s secretive Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) but finds herself underappreciated due to the attitudes towards women at the time. When Howard Stark is accused of treason and goes on the run however, he recruits Peggy to help clear his name with the help of his butler Jarvis while her colleagues in the SSR attempt to bring Stark to justice. This two disc set includes all eight episodes of this entertaining but unfortunately short series. The series has the usual mix of action and comedy that you would expect from a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the writing of the series as a whole also being of good quality and I personally see it as being slightly better than 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' with a far greater feeling of cohesion. The action of the series is well choreographed, the period elements of the series are very well done and the special effects are generally great for a TV series. The only real problem that I have with the series is that the lighting can be a bit poor in places forcing me to raise the brightness of my TV at points to see what was going on.All the actors involved in the series gave very nice performances throughout the series with Hayley Atwell and Dominic Cooper doing great, reprising their roles as Peggy Carter and Howard Stark respectively. James D'Arcy’s performance as Edwin Jarvis and Enver Gjokaj’s role as Daniel Sousa are also done very nicely. For special features there is a bloopers reel which is as amusing as most of the Marvel bloopers.'Agent Carter' was a very entertaining series with a great plot and was very entertaining to watch and overall I feel it deserves a low five stars.

Classy Marvel entertainment, full of wit, energy and chemistry. Carter rocks!
What a breath of fresh air this is. Sassy, energetic, sizzling dialogue, wonderful diverse characters, fabulous chemistries between characters and a stunning 1940s period setting production. Agent Carter continues the high quality entertainment of Agents of Shield with a wonderfully commanding female star kicking ass and battling sexism with class, wit and the usual kung fu. I am a bloke but I do love seeing girl power and somehow, I find female action stars more 3 dimensional in character than the too often one dimensional male action heroes. The characters are Fun with a capital F and actors are superb with Hayley Atwell and James Darcy being absolute standouts as Agent Peggy Carter and her butler, Jarvis. The Marvel empire unimaginably delivered a universe of films and television series that stunningly gels together as a whole with surprisingly great continuity while making them highly entertaining and smart.I really hope this series gets a full rung of 4 or 5 seasons (not more, as most series burn out after that).PS I watched this on Amazon Lovefilm Blu-ray rental which came on 2 disks. Sadly, there were no extras apart from a set of bloopers. It would have been cool to see some behind the scenes of this brilliant production. Pity. The sound was delivered in DTS HD 5.1 and sounded absolutely superb.
