Gentle lessons learned
I have a little hedge-hog hand puppet my grandkids adore. They each beg to take turns rolling it into its little ball pocket to hide. Hedge-hogs are timid little critters, after all. Sharing is a beautiful gesture and this charming little story teaches it well. Double-well for grandkids who live in Snowy Winter places.

Sweet story with good lesson!
This is such a sweet story, my 3-year old loves it! Not only does it have a good lesson of giving but the touch and feel element enables my daughter to follow along easier. This has become her new favorite book. I would say its best for 3-5 year olds, a bit too many words for a 2 year old to keep up (pay attention).

books for children
This is a great book. I gave it to my grandchildren for Christmas. They (3 yrs & 18 months) both enjoy the story and the bright, colorful pictures. It has a moral in that if you do good things for others, in return, they will do good things for you. It is a lovely book for one and all.

a non-christmas winter story
Thank you very much for a non-christmas winter storybook. I was able to give this delightful book to a non-christian child and feel comfortable about it. Yes, those of us who celebrate the winter solstice, a holiday which happens to predate christmas by several millenniums; or hanukkah, or kwanza, or the poor kid who has a late December birthday, get a little giddy over finding something suitable. It's kind of like trying to find Thanksgiving decorations when retailers take down the halloween props along with a ton of orange and black candy then directly fill the shelves with red and white candy canes sporting either Santa or Baby Jesus in festive packaging.

So sweet and charming!
These stories are so comforting, and cozy! Beautifully illustrated in artistry and story. Little Hedgehog is a lovely thing to behold; so sweet and unselfish, and it is wonderful that he has cozy, loving friends. We hope this Little Hedgehog's adventures continue to be written!

One Winter's Day
This book is great. I had been borrowing it from a kindergarten teacher to share with the other kindergarten classes in the school. I read to 14 classes a month. I am a retired principal/librarian.The book really emphasizes sharing and friends.Any child up to age 7 would enjoy it especially the fuzzy pictures.

Liked by a one year old and a five year old
This is a fun little book that our daughter and son both like. He's five and she's one and it entertains both of them. The tactile aspect of the book is especially good for her.

Nice story about sharing
Little Hedgehog is very helpful to his (or her?) friends. This is a great little story about sharing and caring for one another. It's also nice because the scarf and hat are "fuzzy" in the book...my three-year-old loves to touch them on each page. A nice book for pre-schoolers.

Perfect story to inspire Forest School/Outdoor Learning session
This story is the perfect introduction for a Forest School or outdoor learning session for young children about keeping warm. The star of the story is a rather cute looking hedgehog, who puts on his hat, scarf and mittens and sets off on a cold stormy night to visit badger. Hedgehog’s nest has been blown away in the storm and Hedgehog is sure badger will know what to do. On his journey through the dark wood, hedgehog meets his woodland friends who are all suffering with the cold weather. Hedgehog gives away his hat, mittens and scarf before making a spectacular entrance at badger's house. In a beautiful twist at the end of the story Hedgehog’s friends make hedgehog a new home to say thank you. With a bag of colourful hats and mittens and a few woodland creatures we followed in hedgehog’s footsteps and set off to the woods for our Forest School session. The story inspired the 'The Hat and Mitten Challenge' and mini shelter building. Our children loved the illustrations in the story and the simple moral ~ if you help everyone, then everyone will help you.

Not exactly original but lovely all the same.
We love the Little Hedgehog stories, with their sweet storylines, cute illustrations and lovely touch and feel textures. This particular adventure is a very similar theme to 'The Smartest Giant in Town' by Julia Donaldson, with Little Hedgehog giving away his warm winter clothes out of kindness to others in need, before being rewarded at the end by those he was able to help. The fact it's been done before doesn't take away from the fact it's a lovely tale with an important message though, we love it all the same.
