Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Great flick
There are so many famous actors and musicians in this movie. Many have since passed on so great to see them again. I recently realized that a ton of songs from Abbey Road are in this movie, not just Sgt Pepper LP songs.

The best movie ever! We've watched it hundreds of times!
This was me and my wife's favorite movie of all time and still is. When I sought for purchase on Amazon, and I saw that it had been remastered I had to snap it up! Watch this movie. Movie, it's fun and a great musical!

Love it!
Critics seem to think this is up there in the top ten worst things ever made but it is what it is. A Beatles music movie with great singers replacing them for it. The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton another artist's take on the Beatle's songs were wonderful. I love Steve Martin's take on Maxwell Silver's Hammer was even kinda neat. I would love for them to rehab the movie and rerelease it.

the ultimate 70s fun!!!!
if you grew up in the era, you'll love seeing this. it's the best "time capsule" of that decade. but even if not...george burns, steve martin and billy preston make all-out genius contributions. aerosmith and others are cool. earth, wind and fire were extremely good, no doubt about it. but sadly missed the point. some is just campy fun, but some is even impressive. the directing, writing, etc. aren't fantastic, but really, really good - at not taking this thing so seriously. it's just a silly way to relax, not hard-selling a failed desperate attempt.surely helps if you like the 2 beatle albums (it's almost all of sgt. pepper + abbey road). the leads can't act, but don't really need to. you just sit back and enjoy.

Silly, pointless, but utterly entertaining
I watched this movie probably minimum of once a week when I was kid and it first came out. At that time, it was purely for the music. Say what you will, I like this movie soundtrack better than the original Beatles versions.Fast forward to 40+ years later, I'm the mother of a daughter who's a huge Beatles and Bee Gees fan, and finally decided to introduce her to the wonder that is Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Watching it as an adult, I finally understand the storyline... kind of. It's not a great storyline. It's not an imaginative storyline. In fact, it's a total acid trip that makes no sense whatsoever. But it's WONDERFUL. Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Steve Martin, George Burns! You can't beat the cast. You certainly can't beat the music.Don't expect to understand it. Just enjoy it.

Very Quirky
Wasn’t what I expected but that’s okay. We enjoyed watching it.

Awesome. Awful. Can't look away.
This film is horrible, but is not the fault of either the Music or the Musicians. ( I happen to love both the Beatles and the BeeGees, for different reasons. Neither share the same spot in a Venn Diagram). It just... is.The Bee Gees were not actors at that time, and I don't think the world was quite ready for a concept film of a concept album that was a little wacky, even for its time.Steve Martin is kinda boss in it, so that's a plus, but it's basically his Little Shop dentist in a different Setting. The absolute best use for this film if you really wanna buy/stream/view it is to torture someone. Like, that friend who claims they love ALL Musicals??? That one. It's why I bought it, knowing how much I disliked the film already

NC 17 at Best~ If 'Heavy Metal' was a Silent Movie
7.27.22~Never saw this movie until now.At the time it came out I would have been too young for its 'R' rating. In the right time & place, I can see why it's popular. However, I decided to buy it based on YouTube Trailer & movie clips.Wished I would have gone further into the clips..While this starts & finishes in Uplifting 'Heartland', the middle goes Dark. For reference, I'm a child of the 80's and by no means a prude.Thank goodness there was no Social Media when we were growing up.Would hate to have a permanent copy of my digital antics saved for all the world to see. It's just making a conscious effort to watch comedies for my state of mind. The core of this movie is delving into the Seedy Side of the Music Industry.Imagine if the scene in 'Rockstar' where Mark Walberg & Jennifer Anniston,1st visit LA, get high, get down & wake up naked in separate hotel rooms, lasted for 40 minutes. Then add "This is a bad decison" trippy music for same 40 minutes. The only reason I was intrigued by this movie was the HBO doc with the BeeGees. They said they made this 1978 movie to "Change their image".Well it did but not in a good way. Guess a BeeGee getting naked & high didn't work. The other thing you should know is there is No Dialogue.George Burns serves as the Narrator. There are Silent Movie Cues on screen. But the whole movie is silent acting or singing songs to convey scenes. As far as the all star cast?It is a 'We are The World' group of artists in the very last scene singing Goodbye. The only "known actors" are George Burns. Donald Pleasence as the record executiveSteve Martin & Alice Cooper as one scene Villans. The Only Performers besides the BeeGees & Peter Frampton are~Aerosmith as Villan performers, Billy Preston as the hero 2nd Sgt Pepper at the end.Of course the Incomparable Earth, Wind & Fire who perform one of their songs.Liked the movie for the beginning & end before 'Heartland' became a cesspool.E,W,F was worth it just to see them in sequined dashikis & satin spandex. So 70's.I get it was the 70's and the movie reflects the party lifestyle, and I own movies/books with a dark side. Just wanted more family friendly. The trailer does not represent the dark side of the film. Or the lack of words.

Enjoy this fun part of our musical heritage!
Remember this is region 1 and NTSE so your DVD player and TV will have to support this format. Surprisingly there are Dolby and DTS 5.1 audio tracks available. All George Martin's hard work for the soundtrack seems to have survived the years well and shows off all the artist's vocal talents over the rearrangements of all those famous Beatles works. The 5.1 sounds a little odd at times, maybe added at a later date? and on a couple of pieces the session bass player employed definitely had too many steroids! The whole film is certainly not a low budget exercise by any means and I think if you approach it with a good sense of fun, it can be very enjoyable. I wouldn't be surprised that in this 50th year celebration of the Sgt. Pepper album that we find this film taking on a cult status. An expensive lot of fun nonsense, yes, but an important historical document of our musical heritage to be enjoyed. You may spare a thought for all the faces you will see who are no longer with us. Nearly forgot, the picture quality has survived the years and is very acceptable.

So bad, it’s good
I’m a huge Beatles fan, but I had never seen this movie before. The critic reviews from the time are universally terrible. However, a friend said it was good campy fun , so I gave it a go. It’s daft, the story makes little sense and the acting at times is a bit ropey. However, the more I watched, the more I laughed and the more I enjoyed it. Good harmless fun for all the family, with great songs. So bad....it’s good !
