It's Not the End of the World

Karen is going through tough times when her parents are getting divorced. She and her grandpa try to make it better but nothing worked! To take the children's mind off the divorce, but Karen's big brother Jeff ran away! I give this 5 out of 5 because once you start reading it, you can't stop until you finish, which happens to me with tons of books, but this one was amazing! We are enduring divorce, this book is helping my 9 year old daughter navigate this big life change.

Judy Bloom does a great job of describing what it's like to go through a divorce as a young child. 3 ages are represented here. A little girl, a preteen girl and a junior high age boy.This is perfect for a young person searching to find someone who is going through something like they are.

I read this book for my spirituality class. But it was a great book to read! I didn't thinking would enjoy it as much as I did!

This book portrayed the life of Karen and how she struggled with her parents divorce. it was hard for Karen and judy blume really puts that extra bit of effort and emotion into her book and its characters. In the book you can also see how her older brother and younger sister are taking things Aka the divorce and this adds extra depth to the story .😊

毎日のようにケンカをしていたKarenの両親。そして、ある日、とうとうお父さんが家を出て行きます。離婚しようとする両親を、Karenは、なんとか仲直りさせようとするのですが…リアルです。親や親戚の言動も、Karenの心の動きも、結局、子どもには、黙って諦めること以外にできることはないんだってことも。結局、‘慣れ’が一番の救いだってことも。親や親戚って、ほんとに、あのままの言葉を口にするものです。そういう言葉が良いとか悪いとかは、外から見た大人が考えること。実際にああいう言葉を聞く子どもは、Karenと同じように黙ってうなずくしかない。へたに、希望や変な期待を抱かせるような作り事が書かれてないので、同じような状況で親の離婚を経験した子どもは、そのまま自分を重ねて見ることができるんだと思います。
