Fantastic paint for any money.
For the money I have paid it is a steal. Fantastic quality set to start painting with Sennelier. But it doesn’t mean that the box is for beginners. Rather opposite - these are great professional paints, preferred by botanical illustrators. Sennelier allow to convey subtle colours and create transparent smooth washes better than other famous brands. I would add a couple of tubes to the set to make more even gradations. Anyway, for a half of the RRP you get the highest quality watercolour paint set which you can easily expand buying additional pigments. By the way, the metal tin is easy to convert to a 28 full-pan holder, drilling half-way through three rivets from inside, and lining the tin with self-adhesive velcro. The other (soft) part of the velcro you cut and stick to the pans.

Beautiful vibrant and great for glazing
I am really very impressed with these paints. Not only clear, bright, vibrant and easy to flow and to glaze. See my Chart even Daniel Smith is dull in comparison. Samples both done on Bockingford NOT paper and already you can see the Sennelier paint is bright. Such a great Quality set. Browns are weaker but they do layer up so you can make deeper and deeper without ruining your pictures. I am converted to these paints.

Beautiful artist quality paints
Bought these paints as they are recommended by Billy Showell in her watercolour books. They are lovely to use with great colour and mix very well. Worth the little but extra for artist quality paints

Wonderful quality overall, just...
I love Sennelier honey-based watercolour and was thrilled to receive this box.The delivery went all smoothly and quickly, thanks Amazon!About the paint itself: the quality is absolutely top-notch in my honest opinion.Colours are bright and vibrant, smooth, transparent, best suited for layering techniques, but also wonderful in first washes if you mix the right amount of paint.I never agreed with some comments about it being "less powerful" or having their weak earth tones. They are just different from other brands depending on the type of earth pigments, as it is for every company's products really. You can see it for yourself here, I attached a picture of my swatch chart: burnt sienna and sepia are just as strong and lively as the primary colours. No, coming to the downside of the review... I bought this article as "used like new" expecting some minor damage to the packaging and from reading the item condition description, and that was all.The outside packaging came indeed open and damaged, but thankfully the metal box itself seems not to have been involved. What I was disappointed about though, was that the tubes instead have already been used, as this was NOT stated in the description of the warehouse article condition. At least three of the tubes are slightly deformed (see attached photos) as they had been previuosly squeezed gently to try out the paint, and in opening them I could see that there was already some paint come out into the lids. Also, the little brush came completely without the characteristical plastic cap they have when they are brand new, and the hair is quite frayed.Red madder? Don't know, I'd say more of an "electrostatic madder" brush... no way it's able to form a point when wet.All in all I am happy about the paint quality, but a bit disheartened because I got a faulty brush and most important, less paint than I was supposed to, from used tubes... :(
