Brando: The Biography
L**D
This book will keep you busy for weeks, maybe months.
Wow! 1111 pages! This will be a very informative read indeed.Everything you've ever wanted to know about one of the best movie stars to have ever lived.I also learned interesting tidbits about the movies he starred in, such as during the filming of Mutiny of the Bounty, 200 sets of dentures were made for the native Taihitan extras because they all had rotting teeth (most probably due to thier adopting the western habit of eating refined sugar).

Mostly Good Book With One Big Caveat
I spent two weeks reading this massive tome. I'd be curious to know what the Brando estate says about it, or if they have any bios they think are most accurate. An exhaustive amount of info on him and his career, films, and family. The one thing I definitely didn't like is the how the author throws in his little anecdotes, snarky wise cracks and etc, to me the author only cheapens himself by doing that. Maybe he should read some of Bill Zehme's celebrity books, that's how a professional and polished celebrity book author writes. It made me wonder how many embellishments I was reading? well If you watch a lot of documentaries about Brando and have him built up in any way, you will meet Brando the mortal imperfect man in this book.

Could of been shorter
This is a VERY detailed account of Brando. I can't say that i even believed alot of the details in here, manso seems to make a LOT of conclusions about Brando without and supporting evidense. But some of the details he gives are just downright boring after a while. I became very bored and skipped ahead in the book 50 pages....and it felt like i missed nothing at all: Brando studies to be an actor....Brando has sex with her her and her. Also he seems to go into a lot of detail about the people in Brando's life. I was always thinking "so what about this person....i bought a book about Brando".All and all, it had a lot of good "facts". I cant say i believe a good portion of it, but interesting stuff. Definatly could of been about 100-200 pages shorter though.

KIND OF REMINDS YOU OF BYRON, DOESN'T HE?
I purchased this book not only for the price, but the size; I figured that with all these pages, no stone would be left unturned. I know that Brando was no saint, but to think that the best Sky Masterson--in my opinion--in Guys And Dolls is really closer to Stanley Kowalski is a bit of a let down. I thought Brando was excellent in Guys And Dolls( in fact, the whole cast was), which is one of the reasons I bought it; and though I haven't seen that many of his movies, I sort of took an interest in him after The Godfather. This book is very informative, not just for the subject but the history as well. I can almost picture every place that's described( I'm a New Yorker myself); and for someone who's only seen the bad side of the city, it's really interesting to hear about the other part. The author does jump around a bit, but I really think that's more me trying to read when I'm tired or sleepy and my eyes are floating across the page. So far, its a good read; and I find myself really shaking my head at all the dysfunctional people in these books. But well, that's show business.
