Great chip, cheap parts
From reading the reviews, I knew this would not be an audiophile DAC. But I needed optical and 1/4” TRS with volume control. There is no volume control on the optical…. But that’s due to the standard.I replaced the headphone Jack with a Japanese model. It required me to cut the circuit board and do some soldering. I also drilled two holes in the case so that I could mount it to my desk. It works great with my computer sound at and my low-impedance headphones (Sony 7506’s). Good value for the price.

Side-by-side test against a Cirrus Logic CS4398 chipset DAC
LiNKFOR USB to SPDIF Digital Audio Converter/Audio Sound Card (DA chipset unknown) ~$32 versus the Radio Design Labs HR-DAC1 (Cirrus Logic 4398 chipset) ~$600.The CS4398 chipset in the RDL unit has deeper low-bass response and better low-midrange. However, the LiNKFOR unit really shines in the high-midrange and high-treble frequencies, where the RDL unit needs a small amount of upward equalization at the high end. Overall the RDL unit wins, but for about $32 the LiNKFOR unit has VERY impressive sound on a high-resolution system like mine, and a great bang-for-the-buck....i give it a thumbs-up!

Immediate Success!
Plugged it into Windows 11 to do digital audio input into a receiver & speaker setup (2 channel). Hardest part was getting digital audio cable to plug in properly. Once connected, immediate and perfect sound.Kind of surprised actually :)

Optical audio functions
Only bought this for the optical audio out. This port works, but please familiarize yourself with how to control sample rate and bit depth for the audio outs in your operating system of choice before use. You may need to try several combinations to get sound without distortion/clipping. Also, this device surfaces a software input you’ll want to disable. Never tried the RCA out — if you need that, buy a different adapter. This product also rattles when shaken. I wish it had USB-C instead of USB-B. The metal surface is nice.

Excellent!
I'm using this to convert a USB signal from my work laptop to my dac. I like to listen to music while I work, but also want to receive work calls when they come in and switch over with minimal effort. To that end, I intended to use usb out from my PC (for maximum sound quality) into my bifrost 2/64 dac, SPDIF out from my auris audifi to the same dac, and then USB out from my work laptop to the same dac, as well. Problem is that dac only has one USB port. The singular use I have for this box is to convert the signal from the work laptop to coax, the last remaining input port on my dac. This does it quite nicely. I cant speak to the sound quality beyond work calls, but it works spectacularly for that. Recommended, certainly for simple conversion for a similar use case.

Work for Astros a40s and a50s on ps5
I found this device from this guy on YouTube and reddit. If you have a ps5 and a headset that uses optical cable then this device is for you!!!. I have both Astros a40s mix amp pro and a50s wireless. When headset are connected through USB sound quality sucks sooo bad. I connected this audio dac and sound is soo much better. I'm also able to use the game and chat mixer again. Same with the different presets on had saved. Highly recommend for headsets that use optical.

Solved All My Problems
I got a secondhand motherboard with audio issues and crackling this isolates the audio from the board and has its own volume knob ! I can full send the audio right to the box and control the volume with the knob EZPZ Lemon Squeezy !

Surprisingly good at this price
Needed an inexpensive USB DAC for an Inovato Quadra PC and this item was a good match. Sound quality is better than expected at this price. RCA outputs have better sound quality than the headphone jack, but both work. Have not tried the S/PDIF outputs, but my setup doesn't need them.

Ok for USB to Optical Convesion
Uses one Cmedia CM108B audio chip. Should support 44.1/48KHz receive/transmit. Dac is 16 bit. Headphone out port is cheap looking with sound as per with mobile phones. RCA out does not sound good, very thin with no low end at all. This could be because of cheap ports. Works fine as a stand-alone USB to SPDIF converter to feed powered speakers, sounds better than analog feed from mobile or laptop.

Good Audio Interface, with limitations
First, the good things. Absolutely plug and play with Win10. Plugged it in and within one second Windows recognized the interface and changed the setting to output audio through the new device. Bonus points for that. The system offer analog output 1/8 TRS as well as SPDIF (coax) and Toslink (optical) all at once. The internal amplifier is potent enough, even for high impedance headphones. Sound quality with headphones is also great. Now to the Problem I am facing. I want to use it to connect active power studio monitors. Which means, both, the source (the audio interface) as well as my speakers are grounded. There is a constant electronic noise-floor which is super annoying. I assume the internal DAC converter is not galvanically decoupled from the DC supply (USB) it feeds. This is a huge problem and renders the unit useless for active power devices (from AC). I did a test with a powerbar without a ground pin. This helped a lot but it is still not good enough. I will keep it as a Toslink interface but its useless for the speaker application I initially bought it for. (Computer is a Nuc8i3 is you wonder).

Works for USB audio on Playstation 5
That's it! That alone makes this product incredibly valuable to certain individuals like myself, who both own PS5's and have receivers that are below 4k@60 spec, and need a solution to separate audio from the HDMI cable going to their display. One solution is to use an HDMI audio extractor (or a HDMI splitter with an optical out), which I tried before this, purchasing one off Amazon here, but that kept randomly cutting the signal after a month of use. Some brands might not be as bad, but I figured the better solution would be to just wait until I could upgrade my receiver rather than spend more money on yet another splitter, but then I came across the idea of using this on my PS5 and it worked. The PS5 recognizes it as a USB Headset and using the optical out to my receiver gets sound coming through crystal clear. I don't know if it's surround sound or not (I have a 5.1 system) since it's being recognized as a headset, but the PS5 has an option for 3D audio, and sound comes through all of my speakers, though I'm not sure if that's just stereo or surround. I'm happy enough either way since I was having to choose between wearing a headset or having sound come through my projector's built in speaker every time I wanted to use my PS5 ever since that HDMI splitter crapped out and before I got this, so I'm not going to cry over being limited to just stereo sound for the time being... I only mention for anyone else that might.I don't trust most 5 star reviews, so I'll remove one star simply because I wanted this exact thing but using a USB-C cable instead.tl;dr - Provides USB audio on a PS5 for under $30, which saved me from needing to spend $500 to upgrade my receiver.

Not loud enough through decent headphones, poor sound Quality
Yikes, I didn't expect it to be so bad. The sound quality is worse than my PC's builtin. The volume doesn't go near loud enough and the sound is AM radio from the Headphone jack. It makes my headphones sound like dollar store specials. My Creative Sound BlasterX runs circles around it. I bought it for the optical out though which my BlasterX doesn't have. I'm getting a sound bar with optical in in a few days, I'll update my review then and see if the soundbar sounds good on optical or better on the 3.5mm cable.

Great sound, very powerful preamp inside... you may need to be careful
I hooked this DAC up to my Daphile music playing PC system, then hooked it via RCA jacks into my stereo... and nearly blew out my headphones (which were thankfully NOT on my ears)... Using the software volume settings, I find this does best at about 28% volume - much louder and it starts to overdrive my amp's input. The earphone jack gives even cleaner sound than the RCA outs fed into my stereo and listening on headphones to the stereo, but I'll likely just listen through the stereo for ease of use. For anyone that travels with digital music (MP3, WAV, Apple) and listens to headphones (e.g. at work, in a hotel), these make an enormous improvement over the headphone jack in your laptop. Plus, if you want to integrate really high quality playback from a PC into your Home Theater system you have both Fiber Optic and Coaxial (which is amazingly even cleaner than Fiber), and most HT receivers have these inputs. Very pleased, well built, good price.
