Here's to why we love comics in the first place...
...because we were young once and the so much of the good in ourselves, and the awareness of our shortcomings (and trying to be better every time, though not always being successful all the time) came from reading comics.

Silver Age re-imagined
This was actually quite enjoyable. As a huge fan of the original Avengers and the 1960’s it was nice to see the original stories with a twist. I hope Marvel continues to do this. I would love to see all these classics re-imagined with a fresh take. The artwork was perfect. I used to try and draw these characters when I was young. I used to get my comics at a drug store too until it burned down. This brought back memories. It was great seeing Hank Pym as Giant-Man. Marvel has destroyed the character but I will always remember him as an honorable Avenger. The Silver Age made comics and the movies what they are today. Lee and Kirby tuned this into a massive entertainment media. I’m not forgetting Ditko, Heck or the others either. Well done!

An artist's Love Letter to Marvel Universe
This is a remarkably original approach to the Marvel universe, capturing a mature cartoonist's memories of what comics meant to his generation and what the mighty Marvel universe offered to a child's imagination. Beyond that it is an inventive and creative homage which repurposes some of the classic comic pages into a new framework that embraces artistic experimentation. Above all else, it is a reminder of the fundamentally optimistic core of comics, including their crucial affirmation of the possibilities inherent in acts of transformation and redemption. Those wanting a traditional adventure story or unwilling to appreciate artistic experimentation might have trouble appreciating this amazing achievement but those who value and know the great comics tradition will welcome this tribute.

A BOOK TO MELT THE HEART OF ANY GRINCH OR EVEN DR DOOM!
Full disclosure:I'm both a big Marvel Silver Age and Patrick McDonnell fan so I'm hardly unbiased.I've been waiting awhile for this and wasn't disappointed.I absolutely loved it.What a charming, inspiring, beautiful and just plain fun graphic novel. My only complaint is that there isnt more original art by McDonnell but I knew going in by the book synopsis that it incorporates some original Marvel panels and it does so in a really original way.I would give this 6 stars if I could.A love letter to both Marvel & humanity. The world needs more books like this....especially now.Thank you Patrick and AbramsArt!

A meta journey mash-up through the Marvel Universe - Just get this book!
This book is unlike anything I've ever read - a fantastic graphic novel on so many levels. If you are a Marvel fan you will love it! But even if you are not, this book will blow your mind. It's a mash-up in so many ways - the art, the story, the spiritual elements. Unlike anything you've ever seen before but yet so comforting, human and illuminating. Highly recommended!

Marvel's Super Hero's at their best
The Super Hero’s Journey is a creative graphic novel of Marvel’s Super Hero’s that is infused with Patrick McDonnell’s original artwork along with the history of how they inspired Patrick to be who he is today. You can feel Patrick’s love and passion for the Super Hero’s as soon as you pick up the book. This is a must read for those who love Super Hero’s, cartoons, art and passion for doing what you love to do.

Bonita historia, dibujo sencillo y fascinante
Me encanta la historia de un niño, como muchos de nosotros, que leíamos con avidez y asombro los comics de Marvel. Los dibujos son sencillos, como dibujados por un niño, pero con la esencia de un buen dibujante.

Glorious
Was not sure about this volume, the combination of the child-like art and the original tales could be a little arrgh but I loved the story, a real pleasure to read from start to finish and yet another quality book from Abrams Comicarts
