Northwest Tops is a family run business located outside Portland, Oregon. All their tops are machined using high precision repurposed educational CNC Lathes which are then finish by hand and packaged from their home shop. Using quality materials and simple designs they create fun, well balanced & long spinning tops. Named after Mt. Jefferson and measuring just over 19mm, you can choose between solid Brass, Copper or Stainless Steel. This Top features a press fit Ceramic (Silicon Nitride) Contact Point. With practise you'll be getting spins between 4 and 6 minutes with the stainless typically spinning a little longer. Its small size and robustness makes it perfect for EDC! This little giant comes with a knurled grip and weighs in at 31 grammes, with the stainless a touch lighter. This listing is for the Copper top only - Also available are Brass and Stainless Steel (pictured). Copper is harder to machine than Brass or Bronze but shows up with that great red hue! Copper is one of the most requested materials and will form a patina over time! If you want to remove the patina we recommend purchasing a commercial copper polish or simply cut a fresh lemon in half, sprinkle coarse salt on the lemon and rub it on the copper. The contact point is Ceramic, Ceramic (Silicon Nitride Si3N4) bearings are used for the longest and smoothest spin times! This is possible because they are virtually frictionless and lighter than Steel or Tungsten. In rare cases if dropped it is possible for them to shatter so some care is needed when selecting this contact point. They are also used in applications ranging from championship Tour de France cycling teams to the engines on the space shuttle!
