Couldn't have chosen a better introduction to mindfulness!
Ian, I hope you really do jump for joy when you read these because I tell you, that joy is well deserved. My most valuable new addition to my life is the daily reading of personal development books, there is an ocean of knowledge out there and I'll skip the rest of this tired old metaphor. Your book was the first I've read on the topic of mindfulness and I doubt there exists a better piece of introductory material for the uninformed (or dabbling novice)Clear, concise, fun and most importantly it was practical and immediately applicable in an easy and non-intimidating way. Undertaking a new practice can sometimes be intimidating like learning to swim or drive, and likewise with something so simple as sitting with yourself even, can for some be almost nonsensically confrontational. But the material in this book would (I imagine) ease even the most tentative learner into a new daily practice that will change their lives. I read my books on a kindle so it's easy to highlight sentences or paragraphs or whatever as you go and I can say there was at least one highlight worthy bit on every page. What I mean to say is you could take any one of those highlights those, little nuggets of literary gold and present it to a friend as a piece of advise and if they could absorb it, it would make a difference in their life.I'm rambling a bit now but I could truly keep writing all day. Just a couple more things I promise xDI've been practising the techniques provided in the pages of this book for only a few days and already feel a profound change in my life (I'm one of them quick learner types but still!) I intend to make this a part of my day indefinitely and continue learning more in depth about mindfulness.Thank you! for penning this little intro to the mind and the state it's yearning for, please keep writing!Ben, 24, Christchurch New Zealand.p.s to anyone else who read this review remember, books don't change your life. You change your life. Books like this and many others give you the tools or "build your wheel" but you've gotta spin it. I say this because the negative reviews I see on books like this one usually say "uhh this book is rubbish I didn't notice any change at all" well buddy change comes from within so maybe you should write a review on your life instead. Right that's enough keyboard for me for one day sorry for the babbling. Great book. Peace and love to you all.

Great
This book not only backs up the basics, but also goes further into detail with meditation tips and techniques to try. It deals with the connection between mindfulness and success in life, as well as facing set backs and tragedies. It also keeps it real about what you can realistically expect, and doesn't make out that it's some kind of miracle cure for anything and everything.

An excellent introduction to Mindfulness
I knew a little about mindfulness before I bought this book but as I began to read I realised that far from being something difficult to understand and hard to do, mindfulness as explained here, was actually something anyone can do. This little book walks you through the basics, explaining in clear language what to expect as well as what not to expect - this book tells it like it is and leaves you excited and ready to take that first step.

Great content
I really enjoyed this e-book:Easy to read, logical flow. Author has a 'down to earth' writing style.Advises on how to actually apply mindfulness in everyday life (something other books in this genre often miss).Only criticism is I wish it was available in paper form as I would like to be able to highlight/write notes and revisit sections of the book easily. For me it is easier to do this with an actual book as opposed to an e-book.I will look at some other publications by this author. Thanky you Ian!

This is the 2nd book of Ian's I have read. His style is simple in plain English that anyone can read and understand. If you are new to the subject matter then this is a good book to get you started. He gives his opinions on a subject that makes perfect sense. Now it's time for me to get my 3rd book of his ...... This time I'm going to get his take on Zen.

Informative and simple, great book!
Great easy read, full of information on meditation and mindfulness and techniques, has some very useful tips and advice. It’s written in a very simple and straight forward way, makes it easy to get more exercises in daily schedule to practise mindfulness. 1 star less as I feel there’s more to say. Very good book, enjoyed reading it, I highly recommend.

Revealing insight
Having sat through so many well intenioned but sadly lacking one hour work place training sessions on this subject I had low expectations. However, I found this book to be very revealing and recognised myself throughout. Looking forward to trying these techniques with optimism.
