Fantastic can opener
Was on holiday in France where the Geet had this opener and it's truly fabulous. Compact and very effective.

A design classic - loving it!
Built like a tank yet takes up hardly any room in the drawer. Works like a dream - no slips or ragged edges. Simplicity is often best and this feels like a top quality design classic. Wish I had known about it years ago. Now, off to the supermarket to buy more tins to play with...

Best can opener ever
This is, by and large, the best tin can opener I have ever used. While it took about five minutes to figure out how it is used because it doesn't come with any packaging other than a little cardboard slip wired to it telling its name, this device is fantastic. The wheel unlocks at a certain part of a 360 degree revolution, and while unlocked, you slot it on the can and then turn the handles again to relock it in place - the item never comes apart, just it is designed to loosen up for a moment and then make space for the can rim. To unlock the can from the can opener, all you have to do is turn the handles in the opposite direction and it will immediately come loose. It cuts the can smoothly and perfectly, it doesn't create a ridged effect on the tin lid, and this is the first tin opener I have ever bought that ACTUALLY 100% REMOVED THE LID. Ever had that problem, when you open a tin and end up having to carefully bend back the lid and then spin it or twist it to remove the tiny bit of metal the tin opener missed? That doesn't happen here.I guess that could be considered one of the flaws - the tin lid will drop into the can and make a mess, I.E if you are eating cheap beans with watery tomato sauce, it'll dissapear beneath the juice etc. Not a major problem though for the functionality of such an awesome device. The handles are very user friendly, my Dad has stiff joints in his hands but he can use this tin opener without a problem.A fantastic device, a must have for the kitchen. Make sure you get it.

Reviewing 6 years after purchase
After seeing reviews for tin openers in 'Which' magazine I decided to see how long ago I'd bought mine, it was 2016 and is now 2022. This is without a doubt the best opener I've had, it is still going strong and as good as the day it was bought. I had got through a LOT of openers before trying this one. Some were much more expensive and while some were initially nice to use, they didn't last the distance, this simple can opener has. It is also compact which is great. If wondering how to use it - just think about which way up the cutting spike is and place it on the tin rim before turning the red wings - very simple. I run it under the tap after each use to make sure it doesn't get gunked up, and on rare occasions lubricate it with a little cooking oil. I will be telling the folk at 'Which' that they missed out on one of the best openers in their reviews. I hope your experience of buying this opener will be as good as mine.

Handy
Opens corned beef shaped tins easily. Open top then bottom and the meat slides out without damage. No ragged or sharp edges on the tin.Easy to use even for the weaker hand.Simply place the opener on the tin and turn, no handle squeezing required. Reverse turn to release.Although it is a good little opener it’s a little expensive in my opinion.

dont bother
absolutely useless, it doesnt lock onto the tin and the lever doesn't turn, just ended up with a dinted tin with holes around the top!?I think it was defective but I only bought it because it "looked" compact and robust its compact but I would say definably not robust and the metal used looked slightly oxidised so would question just how long a working one would last.

Opens large tins easily
This is my second purchase, bought 2 of these 3 years ago and very happy with them as they open the really big tins well, that I strugged with in the past using other openers, very sturdy and I know they will last.

Great can opener (just a couple uses so far)
I haven't opened many cans with this Nogent yet, but it worked wonderfully the times I did. It was kind of tricky to get it to latch onto the can my first attempt, but once I figured it out it works great. The inside of the can gets pressed smooth all around, so no worries about getting cut. It was easy to turn and has large wings to push/grip in order to spin. This relives pressure on any specific point or on individual fingers, which I assume would be helpful for anyone with arthritis/joint pain. Now just to see how long it holds up. My more traditional "original" can opener with the disc cost almost as much as this and lasted only about 10 cans before skipping in cuts. I'll change my review if this Nogent can opener fails any time soon.Edit: Several cans in and I like it more and more. Works great on squared cans. Easy to get on and off now that I'm familiar with it. I may buy a couple as presents.
