Great knife for cutting vegetables
I am a big fan of the Komachi knives. Their blades are much thinner than your typical chef's knife and they are incredibly sharp. They also have a nice feel. My only reservation is that although they can be sharpened, I can never get them as sharp as when they were new. Nevertheless, it makes a great everyday knife.

insanely sharp knife!!!
This knife is insanely sharp!!! I love it!! I have a much more expensive chef's knife (cant remember the name but it cost 60 dollars) and this knife is just as sharp if not sharper!!! cuts like butter though anything! I dont use it for fish only, it is a good small knife for cutting all kinds of things, when you dont need a big long chef knife. If you get this you will not be disappointed at all.

Wrist is uncomfortable while using this knife.
I really wanted to like this knife. I read all of the reviews and I loved the design, but it's uncomfortable to use. My wrist felt sore after using it for less than a minute, cutting an apple into quarters. Yes, I know it's a fish knife, but cutting an apple shouldn't have put that much pressure on my wrist. I guess I can save it for cutting tofu or fish, or continue using it as an ornament. It's not an ideal "all purpose" knife.

Fantastic day to day Kitchen knife.
It's advertised as a fish knive, but it is fantastic for all kinds of daily kitchen cutting, from fruits and vegetables, to meat and fish. Great ergonomic feel and razor sharp at an excellent price.

They're Lying!
Kai will claim this is a fish knife. They lie. I've used this on fish, on meat, vegetables, chocolate ... I can't for the life of me figure out what this knife wouldn't be good on. It's not a fish knife. It's a "first knife I reach for" knife. While I'm legally required to note that the thing I'm most happy to have gotten by getting married is my wife, the knives we received are a close second (but definitely second place, honey!). We got two Shun knives because they were on the registry, and they're awefully pretty and prestigious. They also cut very very well. But my wife got this knife at her bridal shower from a friend of her mother's, and it's been an absolute delight to use.It is, of course, very sharp. The color is pretty. But the thing that swayed me was that the first time I picked it up to cut something with it (I think the main Shun I was using was dirty), it just fit in my hand so comfortably. And then when I started cutting up the huge English cucumber I was working on, I found that the smaller size, the handle, and the overall construction of the knife made it feel like an extension of my hand, rather than like a tool I was holding. It's just a joy.I highly recommend this knife. For everything in the kitchen that requires a knife, and doesn't require a long one.

amazingly versatile
this knife was purchased with the intent to give each of our groomsmen as gifts. My fiance is a fisherman and cuts and fillets fish quite often. I have also had to learn the skills. I have used professional grade knives in the past to cut fish, but most of them had too long a blade for most reef fish. The komachi knife blade looked awfully small to me at first, but when cutting fish of varying sizes, I find that it does its job adequately. Komachi knives have great grip in the handle, and they are lightweight. There is a slight flex in the blade, enough to maneuver around bones and small areas on fish. I have yet to use the top of the knife, which is for scaling. I still just use a fork for the job. I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone who cuts or cleans fish often.
