Best headlight adaptors on the market today
We've been driving to the Continent over the past 20 years, 2-3 times a year. We’ve tried literally all headlights adaptors available (both beam benders and beam blockers). We’ve been using Metro Beam Benders Ultra (Part No. HG129-00) for the past 3 years and for us they are the best. Our local high-street moto shop stopped selling them so for the last two purchases we’ve been buying these on Amazon (from Motorcount Ltd seller).PROS- They bend the light beams, not just obscure them, hence you can see things on the right of the road and the overall light intensity is not reduced much. You will appreciate how important this is when trying to read road or hotel signs in the middle of the night. This is near impossible to do when using blocking adaptors which do not bend the light beams.- Work well on modern curved headlights (at least on our cars). This is because they are fixed to the headlights using a large sticky cover going over the plastic beam bender. This provides large area where the cover sticks to the headlight, which then allows the beam bender to be held in place even when it has to be bent to align with the curvature of the headlight.- Ideal for long-term use since they hold on really well, even in rain and hot weather. We use these regularly over 6-week summer holidays, they hold on as well in week 6 as they do on day 1. Since the beam benders are enclosed by the sticky cover, this system copes well with moisture/rain/snow, the grip does not weaken over time. With other beam benders, which have sticky tape on their backs, the glue tends to melt over time or sticky tape on the back detaches, causing the bender to eventually fall off the headlight.- Less stressful and more accurate fitting. When trying to position these beam benders, you do this with sticky flaps still covered by protective backing tape. With backing tape on, the beam benders don’t yet stick to the headlight, so you can move beam benders around the headlight to find the best position. I do this with headlights on so I can see the effect of beams being bent, but you don’t have to, just put the positioning ‘pip’ right in front of the headlight bulb (there usually is a little dot on the headlight). Once you have the final position, hold the beam bender in place, remove the protective tape from each of the 4 flaps around it (one at the time), then press on the flaps and the beam bender is fixed in place. No need to lift it off the headlight. Fixing 1-2 flaps initially will hold the beam deflectors in place, check the fit and if good, fix with the remaining flaps. If not right, individual flaps can be easily detached from the headlight and you can try again. With some other products, once the beam adaptor touches the headlight, it cannot be easily removed, you have to keep it in whatever position you put it on first time.- They can be removed easily even after 6 weeks of use, leaving absolutely no marks and no glue residue on the headlights. With some other beam adaptors we’ve tried, the glue would melt and etch into the plastic headlights due to long-term exposure to sun and heat, leaving marks on the headlight, causing cosmetic damage and hassle with removal.- Can be reused if stored carefully. While not advertised as such, once you’ve removed these beam benders, you can stick them together and keep for future use (keep away from dirt/dust) – see the attached picture. When these are needed again, just take them apart and fix back to the headlights. Using this method we get to re-use ours once or twice before the glue wears off or (more likely) they get too dirty. Excellent value for money.CONS- Somewhat pricey, but well worth the money IMO.- Larger and more obvious than other beam adaptors. The attached photos show:- beam benders fixed on headlights- packaging: full cover and instructions inside (sorry about the oil stain in the middle)- a pair of used beam benders stuck together for future reuse (BTW, this is how they look after being used for 5 weeks, some dirt around the edges otherwise ok!)

Sakura Car Headlight Beam Converters Benders Deflectors
Great product, easy to install, the only thing i didn’t liked, is the glue residue left on after the removal.

Decades of dependability
I have been using these Beam Benders for decades, and have applied readily them to both glass and plastic headlamp lenses. They have when I've used them, given very crisp clean defined refocused beams, whereas cheaper ones have just left you with with halos of light and no beam definition, the cheapies might stop you from dazzling other drivers, but they leave you with no real distance vision driving at night. Continental police forces take a dim view of right hand drive vehicles involved in crashes, especially if they consider badly adapted lighting is a factor.I cannot stress how important thoroughly clean optics have to be before applying any form of beam bender. By the nature of electric lighting you are producing heat, this will expand any air pocket left between the lens and the beam bender forcing the beam bender to come away from the lens; hence the need for a clean smooth surface. This may sound daft but gentle cleaning of the lens with soft toothbrush and a non-scouring toothpaste will assist in getting the perfect adhesion before to using any lens cleaning solutions or wipes.Removal is aided by hot soapy water, any traces of adhesive can be removed by the toothpaste method, solvents maybe shift the adhesive far more quickly but risk degrading the plastic lens more commonly fitted to modern cars.

Tricky installation
These are Fresnel lens, they bend the beam, but installation is tricky. They are made of stiff flat plastic, which does not lay properly on the convex headlamp cover. I had to cut off the triangle part of the product and then bend the round part on the edge of the table. The adhesive film started falling apart upon removal in 3 weeks. So, for the repeated installation new clear tape will be needed. The adhesive film does not stick to the treated headlamps - they have to be rubbed with the windscreen polish first. All together, installation is not an instant job...

Best experience with deflectors
I’ve been travelling to France for years by car in a RAV4. First time I have tried these for the headlights. As others have said you can actually see how the beam is bent. Easy to put on and no annoying residue left on when removing. Went through rain and snow and no trouble with adhesion. First time I have not been flashed by other cars. Fab product.

Beam benders
I bought these for our trip to Vienna Sept/Oct, because of the promised improvement to lighting over the usual adaptors. I have a 2005 Jeep Cherokee - so not a particularly exotic vehicle. At Dover - with PLENTY of time before the ferry was due to sail, I tried to fit them.I cleaned the headlights with alcohol to get the lenses completely clean, and dried them very carefully. I equally carefully followed the fitting instructions. The b*ggers simply would not stick properly! It looked to me as though they would only stick properly on a flat surface - how many headlight lenses fit that description? The actual benders are remarkably rigid and simply wouldn't/couldn't conform to the headlight.I didn't dare to trust them to last the journey across to Vienna so I had to go into WHSmiths at the ferry terminal to buy the conventional adaptors (at rather more than they cost on Amazon).I would not and could not recommend that anyone buys these for a European trip.

Used last year, Best deflector.
This uses prisms to change the beam. So you get full light and not a blocked beam.

Funktieniert gut, ein bisschen teuer
Achtung, Produktbeschreibung genau lesen.

Easily Lost - Perdu Facilement
Cleaned headlamps thoroughly, nice and warm as they had been on for several hours before arriving at port, carefully applied taking care to make sure there were no air bubbles under the adhesive. Lost the first beam bender on the way up the M1 within a few hours, the second fell off at the campsite 2 days later when it rained. So if you use them, make sure you use your own weatherproof tape to stick them on. Despite the claim they fit all headlamps, they don't, it is not possible to align the drivers side properly on a LHD Peugeot Partner Teepee, you can't keep the flat section horizontal to the ground.
