Anna Paperback – November 20, 2017

I loved the story of Anna. It was a glimpse back in time to the early 1920's. Also, it told of the struggle we all face as we attempt to come of age. Anna thinks she wants to be a nun. But when she finally arrives at the nunnery and finds she is only expected to pray, never to talk, she finds it too confining. Her love of life is too much for this type of life. So, she goes with an elder nun to offer aid to a doctor who practices on an island. When the nun gets food poisoning and dies, Anna is left alone on a deserted island with an unmarried man trying to cope with the obstacles that come her way. When the doctor is killed, Anna must find a way to save herself. I liked the way in which she does just that. Anna does not contain swear words or sex scenes so I think it is acceptable to people of all ages. Come along with Anna on her adventure. You'll be glad you did. Being somewhat of a romantic I wish Anna had taken the doctor up on his proclamation of love. But the author did not choose for this to happen and it is her story, after all.

Anna is a very interesting story for several reasons. There is much to learn, it's well written, has good characters, history, family and love. I live 10 miles from Petroleum City (now called Oil City, Pennsylvania). I know the location of streets mentioned, where The Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Church is and it is my understanding that the author is from Oil City. I recommend this book, you won't be sorry.

It has a slow beginning but the end makes it all worth it! A fun insight into the life of a possible nun too.

Really wonderful look into by-gone days from this wonderful new author. I learned so much about history and societal expectations for women in the 1930s. The end was exciting and unexpected. Great ride!

I could hardly lay this book down! Well written. Petroleum City is definitely Oil City where I grew up. I enjoyed reading this book.

Looking forward to the next book to discover what’s next on Anna’s journey. Slow start with little character development; however, exciting quick read!
