With Hot Lead and Cold Steel: American Civil War Wargaming Rules (Osprey Wargames, 32)

These are a great set of rules… the scale is from 2 Brigades per side up to a Corps per player. It’s designed for 28mm however information for smaller figures is provided. Basing is suggested but any basing scheme will work as long as both armies are similar. For more in depth review check on you tube for Marks Game Room, they do an interview with the author, demo game and a review. Well worth the money if you’re into gaming the ACW.

Está especificamente diseñado para miniaturas 25/28MM y se nota. No obstante casi todos los Reglamentos pueden adaptarse. Si eres un fan de escalas menores hay reglamentos mas adecuados para ti en el mercado.La edición es muy cuidada y las ilustraciones magníficas (quizás abusan un poco de un exceso de banderas!), el texto y las explicaciones son claros... y no hay mucha novedad... pero el volumen es de una excalente calidad/precio. Si son nuevos en el período de la ACW quedarán gratamente impresionados.Por cierto mi ilustración es de brigadas en 6MM.Absolutamente recomendado. Otro buen volumen de Osprey!

I have read through the rules and played out a few situations to get a feel of how they work.These are well written and clear and I found them very easy to understand. That may be because they do not have any real innovations, the ideas presented have been seen before - albeit written up in a slightly different form - and this familiarity helps.That said this does not take away from what is a solid and very playable set of rules. I especially like the idea of rolling to pass a particular order, but if you fail you may still may be able to make a lesser actionIt is an Osprey book and you know they are well set out and have some excellent illustrations, but sometimes the rules themselves are a disappointment, glad to report not in this case.One failure common to a lot of these Osprey rules is the lack of an included QRS, but hopefully this will be rectified with a download shortly.Conclusion, a nice addition to my collection of rules and well worth the money

A concise and easy reading set of rules ideal for an evening competitive game

WITH HOT LEAD AND COLD STEEL aus dem Hause Osprey Wargames ist ein solides Regelset für Tabletop-Schlachten im amerikanischen Bürgerkrieg (ACW).Man merkt den Regeln an, dass sie für 25mm Figuren konzipiert wurden, es finden sich aber auch sehr einfache Umrechnungstabellen - letztlich kann man diese Regeln mit jedem Figurenmaßstab spielen, und auch die Basierung der Modelle ist einfach gehandhabt. Figuren, mit denen man also eines der zahlreichen anderen ACW-Regelsets spielt, mal für eine Testrunde WITH HOT LEAD AND COLD STEEL zu verwenden ist mithin kein Problem.Die Regeln von WITH HOT LEAD AND COLD STEEL haben große Schlachten im Fokus, sind klar geschrieben und funktionieren gut, wenn sich auch (natürlich) das Rad nicht unbedingt neu erfinden... was aber auch angesichts der zahlreichen ACW-Regelwerke erstaunlich wäre. Einen Innovationspreis gewinnt dieses Spiel also nicht, aber es ist gut durchdacht und gut präsentiert. Die Aufmachung des Regelbuchs ist erfreulich gut, für den mehr als überschaubaren Peis von 18 Euro bekommt man definitiv einen soliden Gegenwert für sein Geld.Alles in allem: WITH HOT LEAD AND COLD STEEL ist nichts "Noch-Nie-Dagewesenes" und erfindet ACW-Wargaming nicht neu, aber es ist ein solides, gutes Regelset, welches ansprechend präsentiert ist. Wer auf der Suche nach einem Regelset für große Schlachten des Bürgerkriegs ist sollte sich diese Regeln definitiv einmal näher ansehen.
