Hobbyists beware
Bought this for my hobby of miniature painting to help light up the miniatures while working at my desk. The annoying thing with this headlamp is that it appears to have a battery preservation mode that dims the light significantly when the batteries start to run a little low. The lamp flashes a number of times before dimming at which point it is far less useful for my intended purpose. This means you’ll be changing batteries far too often to keep it in a usable state.I’m sure this is great emergency situations and it’s intended use case, but just a warning for any fellow hobbyists looking for a task lamp to use at a desk.

Most reliable, head torch ever.
I’ve had one since November 2014 & it’s still going strong & I love it, hammer simple rotary switch you can use with thick gloves on, no annoying fiddly buttons, I use it several times a week. When a friend wanted a head torch for xmas I knew what to get, in the intervening 8 years IT GOT BETTER, 2 light modes & only 1 LED instead of the 3 in mine but with the same wide flat even light. I’m envious now…It’s robust & that comes with a small weight penalty so I only gave it 4 stars for working out.Only disappointment is after 8 years of regular use the elastic headband has lost some bounce, I’ve had to tie a knot in the return loop to shorten it, probably doesn’t help that I’ve worn it over a kayaking helmet more than once… & a cycling helmet… Oh & a motorcycling helmet… I might be the problem here...

Good headset for industrial use.
Wear this around a hard hat so can't comment on comfort but the strap at least feels soft! Good bright light, however battery can drain quickly if you use it at its brightest setting for long periods. Durable unit, have bumped it off metal panels regularly and works fine. ATEX rated so good for working in areas of gas potential i.e. offshore oil platforms.

Really well designed
This is the best head torch I’ve ever used. Very robust and the batteries lasts well. I’m using with 2800mAh li-on rechargeable AAs.I’ve had several LED Lenser in the past and while they are great, they cost a lot. The Petzl head torch lights up the immediate working area well. So much so, that I’ll quite often work all night and forget it’s dark. It doesn’t have an adjustable beam, so won’t shoot for miles, but that’s rarely what’s needed out of a head torch.

It's uses up the batties
It uses up the batties fast, but it's bright

Solid but more for lighting a room than shining down deep pipes
Not the brightest but then I knew that before I bought it. Does the job and intrinsically safe.

Bad at long range
Very wide diffused beam.Beam doesn't reach anywhere near as far as Petzl Tikka. Can't comment on battery life
