Any lovers of Super Mario will love and adore this Lego set. It is an expansion set but can be used and played with on its own. There are lots of exciting and different Lego pieces to assemble and the finished product is so much fun to play with. As this set is from Lego you can guarantee that the blocks will stay together and not fall apart easily. Great for ages 7 upwards.

This is an expansion set, it does not come with mario, you need the super mario starter course 71360This expansion set is a good set and adds more playability to the original set , you need to download the instructions and go from there, all the pieces , 536, come bagged in numbered bags for ease of building, its fun to put together and then its fun to play with after, marion can ride the dolphin and knock down big urchin.as we all know lego is well made and a great set of toy. very happy!

This is a larger expansion pack for the Super Mario Lego world.It's important to note that you do not get the Mario or Luigi figure required to play. They have to be purchased separately and at the time of writing I don't think you can get them individually, so you will have to buy the Starter sets. That means you need either Lego set 71360 (if you want Mario), or 71387 (if you want Luigi).Back to this set though and this Big Urchin Beach Ride set does come with a few secondary characters though, (Dolphin, Big Urchin, Yellow Yoshi and Cheep Cheep), which is nice to see.The course is fun to build and there are digital building instructions in the Lego Super Mario app. I still prefer the paper instructions so I hope this isn't the Lego future, but I suspect it might be.If you enjoy Super Mario on the consoles, then as long as you acknowledge that you'll need to commit to purchasing multiple sets from this series, you'll find this is good fun Lego.

Lego 71400 part of the super Mario range. Big urchin beach ride is an expansion set to the super Mario starter course 71360 or luigi starter set 71387. It states on the front lego mario isn't included and on the back which starter course is needed. The set comes in a massive box, showing you the completed model. You get to make a course with a palm tree to get the block out of, a beigh to jump on and a roller coster to ride to topple the big urchin. The set even includes yellow yoshi, nig urchin, 2 cheep cheeps and a dolphin for your mario or luigi figure to go on. Theres no instructions manual in the box, you need to download the free lego super Mario app to get digital building instructions. It's easy enough to do and has clear images that are easy to understand and follow, with each piece being recognisable. The pieces are all contained in numbered bags, so you can do each part of the make in the correct order. Your able to easily locate each piece and follow in order. The pieces fit together well and doesnt come apart with play. The set contains a massive 536 pieces. With interactive Mario or luigi, you can go around the course and when landing on different parts it triggers responses and sounds. It's a great set to expand your course and enhance game play.

This is an expansion pack - so make sure you have the starter set first as you will need mario in order to use the interactive elements of the set. Without it its not going to be much use.However if you do have the starter set - it's a really nice add-on, as with any lego it's well thought out and a great activity. I don't need to sell you on lego, there's a reason they're so highly thought of. Instructions are clear, finished product looks great and all the interactive elements work perfectly.Would recommend.Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is just the price point. I understand its both Lego and SuperMario but for an extension pack it seems a little high.

I usually give high score for Lego sets as its always been fantastic toy brand over decades. The reason for 4 stars is that this set comes without the main player character which is Mario. Without him the playset is sort of useless. He is required to complete the play in this set. As we can notice on the online images, there are barcode blocks which are steps of completed game. When Mario stands on the barcode, it adds points (we can hear it and see in the mini display in the Mario itself. Mario is kind of interactive toy so without him is not much if the fun in this playset). Mario has missions to complete like ride the dolphin and knock the Big Urchin down, scan his barcode, then under palm tree barcode to go ahead with the play. I don't have similar, matching starter sets with Mario so can see the point of playing with it until we get Mario.Price tag, as standard, a bit high, especially when Mario is not included. Quality of the set is good, a bit woobly here or there but as expansion to other sets, it could be a good fun to play with.

I'm giving this 4 stars although in reality the lack of the 5th star is my own fault. I hadn't realised when I ordered this that it was an expansion set. Both of my kids love Mario and so I got this so they could recreate some of the online games that they play. Alas, it is not to be as this set doesn't include the Mario characters. What is there is great, it's simple enough to construct. But you need to have the base set beforehand to make this worth while getting
