This mat is excellent, and my daughter loves it. It's vibrant and colorful on both sides, pleasantly squishy and padded, and very easy to clean. She gets excited every time it comes out, and we do all of our messy arts and crafts on top of it. I wasn't sure if this would be worth the price when I first looked at it online, but I am extremely happy with it overall.

Let me start out by saying that this is a "legitimate" review written from a first-time mom with no ties to the company being reviewed. I'm also a mom who upholds my child's safety as a #1 priority when it comes to any purchase I make for my child on products they will use on a daily basis. The negative review below at first made me a little hesitant to purchase this play mat but I thought that with Amazon's excellent return policy and offering UPS home pickup for returns why not try it out. I am so glad I made this purchase. I needed a large thick padded play mat to cushion my son's fall when making his efforts to roll,crawl,etc. I was looking for a play mat similar to the cushioning you would see in a memory foam mattress and this product was the closest I could find to what I was looking for. The box arrived fast and on the exact day of the estimated delivery. The mat comes rolled up within a large plastic bag including a label stating "an odor may be present when first taken out of the packaging for the first time." When I took the mat out of the plastic bag I did smell a slight plastic odor on the play mat. To be safe I allowed the mat to air out on the patio for about 5 hours before bringing it back inside. Once I brought the mat back inside I smelled NO odor. I then used Seventh Gen cleaner to wipe the mat down before use. The play mat is made from thick and soft foam material that does a great job cushioning my son's fall. To be more specific the label lists the material of the mat to be [Resin Foam] and the "skin" of the mat with [Acryl,Urethane]. My son loves all the pictures on the mat. It's a great educational interactive tool that has both the picture and the word underneath the picture. He points to a picture and I say the name and spell out the letters. It's very well made and looks very durable to withstand many years of play. I have had this play mat now for 3 months with no problems including NO odor smell. I highly recommend this well cushioned mat for children on the move.***Update***- It's April 2012 and I have to say this is still by far the best safety item in my son's room. My very active son is walking now and this mat has saved him from MANY falls that could have been so severe. While standing he fell backwards with his head hitting the mat so hard the sound of the fall it made scared the life out of me. He immediately got up fast and unfazed by the fall like nothing happened! I feel so at ease that this mat keeps my son safe while he plays. He also still loves all the pictures on the mat and loves it when I sound out all the letters of the alphabet on the mat. We ended up getting more mats around other areas of the house he actively plays. This mat is well worth the money!***Update***- Here are the dimensions of both the LARGE and MEDIUM play mat. MEDIUM mat is 73" inches WIDE and 49" TALL. LARGE mat is 83" inches WIDE and 55" inches TALL. Both mats are approximately 1/2 inch in thickness and will go back to original form when you press down on it. These mats are a perfect solution for my home that is all hardwood downstairs and my son's playroom is also hardwood floors. I have both sizes and they work great to keep him safe and well cushioned from falls on our hardwood floors. I also posted pictures of his playroom with these mats. Hope this helps other parents looking for great quality play mats. :)

I love this mat! Ive had this for 8 months now and it's a muat have! It's super thick and comfortable. I wanted something that wasn't too bright or crazy looking. This mat design is cute and adorable! I WFH and sometimes lay on the ground with my baby and it's so comfortable! Lays flat on all edges. I think there was a slight chemical smell at first but it went away. I usually have this in a large playpen and have one of the ends folded in since the mat is a little longer than the playpen. It does not get ruined after being folded and still lays flat when I take the mat out to put on carpet even after being bent for awhile while being in the playpen. It has most definitely saved my baby from having too much injuries from falls and head bumps. Of course, you can't control how much they fall but it helps with the shock of the fall.Highly recommend. I bought the large one and love it. It's definitely and investment but I see this being useful for any of my future babies up to toddler years, as well. The material is nice. Not too sticky and not too slippery. Just perfect to ensure baby doesn't slip around everywhere and still can grip to learn how to crawl / walk. Must buy for all babies learning how to crawl and walk. I also love that if I lay this on the hard wood floor, the mat won't slip around everywhere and also stays put on carpet! Another huge plus is the cleaning! If my LO drops anything,I just wipe away and it's clean! Can't go wrong with this high quality mat!

UPDATE:We've had this mat for 9 years now and even though the kids are 7 and 9 years old now and way beyond the need of a mat like this, the mat is still here! It makes a nice play area that's not cold on your butt when you sit down the way the hardwood floor is, and it's easier to clean than a rug, so it's still here. It's in the kids' play area and has held up amazingly well over these 9 years of all sorts of play - from walkers and baby toys to legos, puzzles, board games and everything else! We have rugs in other rooms and this mat is more comfortable than a rug to lie on, because of the memory foam, which has not gotten permanently compressed the way a lot of memory foam items do eventually. This mat is still good as new! It's our place to play board games or other things that are better played sprawled out on the floor. This mat is timeless!The only thing I don't understand is how the price has more than DOUBLED in 9 years! I bought it for $94, going for $200 now - ouch!ORIGINAL REVIEW:We've had this mat for about a year now, and love it! It's big, and very well padded. It's very thick. It has good memory foam cushioning. A lot of people are saying that it doesn't feel soft or doesn't spring back right away after you depress it, but none of that matters if the mat does its job, which it does, impressively well! The memory foam that takes a while to depress and spring back absorbs shock much better than something that feels soft and fluffy. Fluffy things depress more easily, which means they offer less cushioning protection. My daughter learned to sit, stand and walk on this mat and fell many, many times - from a sitting position, from a standing position, while walking, etc. Including she fell on her head many times, and never ever cried after falling. You could almost see her head boing back after hitting the mat, it was that cushiony! We kept her on the mat only, or on a rug, while she was still learning to walk, so when we finally let her out onto the hardwood floor, it was a stark difference which she did not appreciate at all... I think that was the first time she learned that falling can hurt! I haven't tried other similar mats, so I can't say how this one compares, but it has done its job wonderfully and I have been very impressed with its performance!The mat is also very easy to clean. Just wipe it with a damp cloth or a wet wipe and it's done. I also vacuum it to get the cat hair and dust off, then wipe with a damp cloth. I like this better than the jigsaw piece mats, because it has no texture or crevices for grime to get caught in.The mat has endured a year's worth of play and all kinds of toys on it (including walkers and riding toys) and has held up great. The only signs of damage are a few tiny holes in it, exposing the memory foam underneath, but I suspect the cat may have had something to do with that. Otherwise, no signs of wear at all.The only thing that sketches me out slightly about the mat is the uncertainty of what chemicals went in it... It didn't have a noticeable smell when I opened it, and it isn't going in the baby's mouth, so I've been trying not to freak out about it... It's also very hard, not to say impossible, to find non-toxic versions of certain baby items, like this type of foam play mats. I'm very careful with all things baby, but there are certain battles I just can't win... So I have accepted that this mat is what it is, and saved my vigilantism for things that actually go into my baby's mouth or directly on her body.

Dachte das die 1,3 cm Dicke nicht dick genug sein würden, aber diese Qualität ist einfach Weltklasse. Da können auch wir Eltern mit den Kindern auf der Spielmatte spielen. Die ist weich, komfortabel und verändert nicht die Form. Optisch ebenfalls wunderschön, bunt und definitiv die beste Wahl für die Kinder zum Spielen auf dem Boden.
