This isn't a motion detector light although oddly, and wrongly, there's an option to rate it as such. I have it in a gloomy corner at the foot of the stairs and it turns on as the daylight fades. It's quite bright, so I don't need the hall light on in the evenings. It will also come on during the day if you walk by and cast a shadow over the sensor, but is reacting to the lack of light rather than motion. Looks neat and doesn't stick out too far. Good value.

Needed a dim glow in our room for our aging dog that bumps into everything this is perfect.

The light is brighter than expected. The light is not able to remember your preferred setting so will need to be pressed again if it loses power.
