Weston Vac Sealer Bags, 8" x 12" (Quart) Zipper Seal, 50 count

So I just used these these today to package and freeze some food and I must say, their profomannce was a little lackluater. When I went to seal these suckers up I noticed that a few of them started leaking right away after sealing. It took me a while to figure out why they were doing this but I was able to pinpoint it to an obvious manufacturing defect that seemed to effect all the bags I received.What I noticed is that one side of the bag is ever so slightly longer than the other. What this did, was create a fold that, when filled with all the juices from what I was sealing, made a little hole that air could get back in through.The only reason I didn't give these a 1 star is because I was still able to make them work by double, or even triple sealing some bags. Bottom line though, if this is what these bags are going to be like, I plan on looking for a different brand to use and I would recommend you do as well.

As usual for Weston bags, these are perfect. Yes, they are twice as expensive as the FS brand, but these don't have the little vacuum sucker valve on them, which requires the vacuum hose and attachments; one entire end is open for loading, and sealing just like regular bags. The other end is the one you cut off and then are able to open and reseal. They work extremely well, and for those out there who say they don't hold their seal, we always seal TWICE; just seal, move it a quarter inch in or out, and seal again. We've NEVER had a bag loose it's seal, EVER!

I have not used these bags for food yet. What I did use them for was ice packs. I filled them half way with water then sealed the bag without using the vacuum. It took two of us to get it done, one to hold the bag and one to close the sealer lid, but now i have reusable ice packs for my 5 gallon drink dispenser. My original intention was to use them for when I do corn to freeze. They would also be good to make smaller portions of foods bought in bulk, like cheese.

I ordered these bags to package my homemade dehydrated meals for backpacking the John Muir trail. My goal was to pour hot water into the bags cook/re-constitute meals on the trail. The zippers on all my bags failed so I could not re-seal the bags once hot water was added. The zipper would tear off of one side when attempting to open the top of the bag. I had to switch to Ziploc freezer bags mid trip and then had to take time to re-package all of my food at all of my re-supply points.

I like but kind of costly

Have purchased these before and will purchase again. If you vacuum seal and need to be able to conveniently reseal the package this product is perfect.

Fantastic product. Will be reordering. Allows sealing without funky attachments. Great for lunch meat, and food you use repeatedly.

I use these to package pecans for my cottage home business & really like them-high quality, resealable...good price.

Work great but be aware that you only get a 50 bag count not 100.

Great bags work well on my FoodSaver unit.
