A wonder in visuals, dialogue and inventive ways to zoom in on boobs. be careful this anime can mess with your head a little.

I need to explain why I am giving this 4 stars, the episodes themselves, the story, everything about them is worth 5 stars easily, however I can't justify giving this DVD release 5 stars as it's only 4 episodes. This is an issue that continues with the franchise that many later series are also just 4 episodes long, and obviously we're paying the price of a full 13 episode series for each of them. Honestly it just seems a bad choice by Shaft that they split these into short series rather than doing what they did with Bake and Nisemonogatari, combining two or more stories into one series.Western distributors (in this case MVM) could have fixed this issue by combining series in their DVD releases, but opted not to.So if you've watched the first two series, you know what to expect.This is set before the events of Bakemonogatari and is all about Hanekawa and how she got cursed by a cat and the events mentioned in Bake.Yes there is plenty of fanservice, but this is kind of to be expected, and also Araragi is a pervert and we're looking at his viewpoint, which tends to linger.The animation is great and stylistic as ever, with some impressive scenes, the soundtrack is even better this series with a beautiful OP a decent ED and some really good insert songs too.My one complaint is that it felt short, I haven't read the book yet so I can't compare the two, but I feel there could have been more character development in this, that we could have got to know Hanekawa just a little better than we did. I would have loved there to have been just one more episode especially as Bakemonogatari kind of said that this event went on for quite a good few days (and in this most of those days just tick by on the calendar)

This is a wired confusing anime and why rated 18? More like a 12 rate so soft no bad language or sex not even naked girls and the storyline is so crap why the cat girl got to do with anything and the vampire too? Totally waste of money 👎👎👎👎👎

Despite the fact that this story takes place before we originally met Araragi & Hanekawa in Bakemonogatari, it's intended to be watched after Nisemonogatari and forms part of Hanekawa's "cat" character arc. On paper, this should have been a great opportunity to develop further these two characters, along with characters of Araragi's sisters, the demon hunter Oshino and Araragi's familiar vampire spirit, but unfortunately the opportunity is largely missed in favour of ogling Hanekawa in her cat form. The fan service aspects of the series can be a help or a hindrance, but here I felt it was glaring and unwelcome (despite the fact that this is far from a graphically sexual serial).Fans of the series who have made it past the first two chapters (Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari) will probably feel that it's impossible to skip this story, especially since Nekomonogatari White (which is great) comes next. Really, though, I felt that what I learnt about Hanekawa's past from Black actually contributed very little to my enjoyment of White. Moreover, the animation seems to fall short of the standards of the series in general, with some very ugly facial animations indeed.So, regard this as a fans-only chapter of the story and you'll be fine.

This prequel to Bakemonogatari does much to help unveil some of the aspects that propel the main show. And while - at only 4 eps long - this package is a little on the skimpy side, it continues to deliver the incredible visuals and witty worldplay we've come to expect.With a sexy cat girl and a fantastically bloody final episode, this snapshot back into the past also features some key scenes between Araragi and Shinobu - whilst with the main focus on Tsubasa as opposed to Senjogahara, we get a lighter touch than the show's usual battering of Tsundere put-downs. Bring on the next installment!

Great anime, however i can't understand why bluray disc is named Disc Two? Seriously, it's looking horrible in a box. Same in nisemonogatari complete collection. Two disc are named Disc One..

this a okay dvd it was quite good in leading you along the beginning path of the story I really wish some times that therelease of dvds are in order of watching

No one informed me this was not US friendly, now I have to find a Blu Ray player that will play Japanese disc. I am not thrilled about it for the price I pay but I love the series so it isnfine.

Enfin le début de la saison 2 et la fin de l'arc "Neko" centré sur Tsubasa de cette série qui n'est plus à présenter.On peut dire qu'on aura attendu, hein Dybex ! Bref,Petit coffret cartonné classique, petit livret cartonné souple avec tout un tas d'informations relatifs aux personnages et aux épisodes.En plus de ça, 4 illustrations en format carte postal ( bon par contre, le papier glacé, j'suis pas fan x) ), ça coute pas grand chose et ça fait toujours plaisir !Concernant les fautes, je n'ai pas encore regardé mais je ne suis pas le mieux placé pour en parler haha, en tout cas, je n'espère pas surtout après une attente aussi longue !Bref, très content de ces petit coffrets (celui ci ainsi que les autres de la série, j'vais pas tous les faire ahah ) de bonne qualité et aux tarifs, non abusif ( suivez mon regard :o ) et j'ai hâte d'acheter progressivement la suite !D'ailleurs, en parlant de la suite, j'espère qu'on auras pas trop longtemps à attendre, surtout les films de la Kizumonogatari trilogy ! ( Bon, ça date déjà de 2016/217, donc niveau de l'attente ...bref XD ).Ah et pendant que j'y suis, personnellement, je me contrefiche des voix française, d'ailleurs, je préfère éviter de payé plus pour quelque choses qui seras de toute façon, de mauvaise qualité ( expérience perso ).Allez, je m'arrête là, bisous :).

翼ちゃんがかわいいです。ひたぎちゃんとのガールズトークも面白い。ただ虎が妹?と言っても納得できない、 これは声と内容が合っていない。ディレクターのミス。ところで、暦のベッドに寝(そべる)るのに抵抗がないのは、これんが2回目だったから?時系列がだいぶ無理がありそうですが、それはご愛嬌。

字幕はきえないけど、DVDにも傷もなくホームセンターで買ったプレイヤーで普通に再生できて良かったです。
