Bonhomme

I was certainly late in coming to know of Georges Brassens. A bank holiday Monday afternoon, on BBC2, in the late1980's, I think it was, whilst revisiting a house in which I had once lived. The programme concentrated quite hard, at one stage, on the "L'Orage" song. I was immediately totally transfixed by the story within the song. Georges Brassens's imagination was not restricted to short straight roads, quite the alternative. I am not aware that any of these songs match the intrigue within "L'Orage", but this is most wonderful music, sung and played with crystal clear clarity. The diction is amazing. The songs, and tunes, are wonderful. If you have a "Vent for the French", then I think that you will love having this, in your collection. At the very least, please sample all the recordings contained on these two C/D's.

No further comments! Georges Brassens brings his songs from Paris on a simply way, like a poet, and accompanied by two guitars and string bass, like the style of the Hot Club de France!His pronunciation of the French is really good articulated! Enjoy yourself!

George Brassens is among the very limited number of minstrels that draws attention even if you haven't got a clue as to the content of his lyrics. (The Dutch-Swedish singer Cornelis Vreeswijk is another example of this rare talent).Furthermore, even the earliest recordings(1953)on this set could have been made yesterday - such is the stunning quality of sound and the intensity and freshness of the performances. Fantastic !

George Brassens is/was a titan songmaster in the French speaking world for his renditions of comic country music, some of which is rudely suggestive in the rural sense of humour. He is a poet in both music and written magic and should be better known in the English speaking world.

Extremely enjoyable memento of a really great entertainer. What a shame that he is not known by so many people who don't recognise performers who existed before they were born!

One of so many great figures France has graced the world with. Definitely a fantastic deal, fine package and clean mastering. Just buy it.

The quality of the CD is not above average but acceptable considering the low cost. It is a conversion from analog to digital, sound is clear and free of background noise

Imprescindible para los amantes de la canción protesta, de la canción de autor, de los cantautores, de los cantantes con personalidad propia.

Un cofanetto con tre cd (ciascuno contenente due album) per scoprire un artista fantastico. Assolutamente raccomandato a chiunque ami la musica d'autore.

Un cantautore d'altri tempi, che rappresenta molto bene. Grazie, anche, al suo vasto repertorio è sempre possibile apprezzarlo ed amarlo.

夫が日常で母国語を話すきっかけ用兼私と娘のフランス語の耳慣らし用に購入。やっぱり、ブラッサンスの曲は聞きやすいし楽しいですね。音楽や音楽機器に詳しくないですがＣＤ３枚共に音飛び等ないと思います。確か歌詞、訳詞は入っていませんでした。曲名は記載されています、歌詞が欲しい時は曲名でネット検索でＯＫ。

This is a wonderful set. I'm not an audiophile, so I don't know how good the recording quality is, but my clients and I have enjoyed it a lot. I recommend it highly!

This man was from my mother's time, and grandmother's time. His lyrics were risque then, and even now! Brassens is to France what Brel is to Belgium. I am translating all his songs. He is a poet, musician, philosopher, comic, and loyal to his friends. All these gems of songs coming from a beautiful rich voice - irresistible! Intelligence, color, perception, a wide variety of subjects, deep feeling, fine sentiments, very musical compositions, memorable lyrics at times riotously funny, at times piercing the heart. Brassens is as relevant today as he was in my grandmother's time. A classic. Buy this! Pass it on in your will.

Was not familiar with Monsieur Brassens works before I ordered this and am very pleased with the songs and the quality of the recording. A very pleasant surprise for me is that I thought I was ordering a single disc which actually turned out to be a three disc set. Wonderful. Fans of French Chanson will not be disappointed if they purchase this.

It is good. It's what I was expecting.
