Best lightweight waterproof daypack of all time??
Yes indeed it is. I was looking for a lightweight, waterproof 15-20L pack for short bikepacking trips, and a daypack for all of life’s less exciting adventures. This checks all the boxes, including some that weren’t even on my list. It’s that cool. When it arrived I first had to test its alleged waterproofness, and I did with vigor! It really truly is waterproof even though it’s incredibly thin, lightweight and packable. Next it had to survive the rigors of being supportive while being stuffed to the max with overnight bikepacking gear whilst also maintaining a reasonable degree of comfort while wearing on a bike for several hours with 10+ pounds in it. I’m here to tell you, it did that too. I added a small foam insert that slid in the back to keep a modicum of rigidity under a poofy load which certainly aided in my success in this scenario. In regular day to day activities it excelled as well, from easy hikes/picnics with kids to daily stuff sack for extra layers on the go to grocery store shopping pack and more! I plan to use this as my Grand Canyon R2R2R overnight pack later this fall as well, I think this featherweight, Swiss Army knife of packs can pull off just about anything. Best gift ever for your outdoor enthusiast partner, friend etc. I’m not a paid sponsor of Osprey but am open to the idea of it….Osprey…are you reading this?? I’ve had their backing packs and hydration packs for years and this is by far the most exciting purchase from them to date.Cheers

Packs up small
Not the best fitting as it's pretty small and only has a chest strap which sits too high on my torso. Would prefer it to also have a waist strap, but for a day pack, it does the job. Not sure I'd spend 69.00 on it again and would likely opt next time for a less expensive pack. It does pack up small though and has a permanent spot in my backpack.

Cross between a backpack and a soft bag, but pricey
A simple, unstructured backpack-meets-daysack. It's very very light and packs into its zippered pocket. There's a chest strap, a cinch for the top, and adjustable shoulder straps. The shoulder and chest straps are what makes this most different from those corded daysacks, since it'll carry much more weight, much more comfortably. The downside: no padding on the straps, no structure or cooling lattice between you and the bag, and the simply nylon construction means anything heavy or edgy will be pressing into your back. But there's almost zero overhead of weight from the bag itself.I recently carried mine on a 3 mile hot-weather moderate hike, with 2 bottles of water in the main compartment, a snack and a headlamp in the outer pocket. Worked well and pretty comfortable, tho I had to take it off to get my water out. My back also pretty sweaty with the nylon layer sitting right against my shirt. For us hikers, the orange color of the bag is also handy in areas that may be shared with hunters...Unfortunately, current pricing is unexpectedly high.Osprey certainly knows what they're doing in the backpack space. This is an interesting variation when you don't need a "real" pack, but may suddenly or briefly have to carry something. It won't replace any bag I currently own, but I might well take on travel for when I "might" hike but wasn't planning to.
