Overall a great saw
This is my 2nd 460 Rancher. After running them thru hundreds of tanks, countless hrs, prob a thousand trees, they just work. They aren't the speed demons of pro saws, but for every tree that a normal guy will encounter on his/her property it's a great saw. Keep it clean, buy a chain sharpening kit and keep the chain sharp, use the correct gas/oil mixture, read the instructions (and forum posts) if you havent used chainsaws much, and do the simple maintenance (including NOT leaving fuel in it for months at a time) and it'll last you for years. The one thing I'd suggest is to drop the 24" bar and throw a 20" bar on there -> it makes for a much more "usable" chainsaw. I've left the 24" bar on this new one, but I use a 20" bar on my old one. Maybe find or fabricate a set of larger dogs on it, but that's a personal opinion thing. I have a 2 Stihls (one smaller and one larger than the 460) and the Husky works out best for most jobs I do. Stay safe around trees and chainsaws.

The media could not be loaded. A Beast of a Saw – Perfect for Firewood BusinessThe Husqvarna 460 Rancher has truly exceeded my expectations. It’s powerful, smooth, and incredibly reliable — everything you want in a workhorse saw. As someone who runs a firewood business, this has become my primary saw, and it’s more than proven itself. Before writing this review, I’ve put it through its paces, processing at least six full cords of wood — and it hasn’t skipped a beat. The performance is consistent, the cuts are clean, and it handles larger logs with ease. I swapped out the standard 24” bar for a 28” bar, and the added reach has made a big difference when working with oversized rounds.Whether you’re in the business or just need a serious tool for heavy-duty cutting, the 460 Rancher is a top-tier choice. I absolutely love this saw and can confidently recommend it to anyone who needs power, performance, and durability in one rugged package.

Fantastic tool
This saw is powerful, reliable , easy starting, vibration free and ultra smooth to operate.I am a land owner and use chainsaws regularly. After a viscous storm a neighbor and I were bucking downed oak and firs blocking access to our properties. He was running a husky 460 rancher i another top name brand saw I had been using for a few years.I noticed he was more productive and his machine seemed much easier to operate. To make this review shorter, I had a brief run with his Husky and promptly ordered one that same day. It is absolute awesome in every way. It has reduced my fatigue, improved productivity and increased the fun factor for this ol’ boy.I usually am skeptical about reviews but this is no BS. The Husqvarna 460 Rancher is the most user friendly saw ive experienced.

Powerful
Works like a Champ!! Runs Great, a bit of a pain to restart but cuts wood. 4 stars because the chain popped off and was ruined, had to buy a new chain. I've cut 15 cords of pulp logs with my Stihl and have never ruined a chain. This thing is Heavy and Heavy Duty, I would buy this again. Between this and my Stihl, I would buy this just because it's cheaper.

460 Rancher - Started right up, and starts on the first or second pull every time.
I studied the manual before the 460 Rancher arrived. I mixed 93 octane fuel, added chain oil, pulled the choke, and on the second try it sputtered. I pushed in the choke, and on one pull it started and ran smooth. It cuts well. I also ordered a four pack of 24 inch full chisel chains, so I am all set for the next few years. One suggestion is that for this price saw, they could throw in a plastic case.

Go with a competitor
So I've tried to give it the benefit over 7 months. And about a month ago I bought another chain saw because this one is so bad I thought it had to be just myself, but I was pleasantly surprised it's not. This thing out the box has never cut straight, and anything in the 18" range will take FOREVER to cut through. This chain saw will over heat before it runs out of gas and then I have to leave it in the shade for over an hour before I can get it to restart to get another 15 minutes out of it.I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on this one. I went with a Stihl equivalent but shorter bar and it cuts twice as much twice as past.Really upset I wasted my money on this.
