The Bear's Winter Delight
This is a book I used to read to my now adult daughters and I re-bought it recently for my two and a half year old grandaughter. Sadly the shop only had one copy since I realised that I also needed a copy for myself, hence my Amazon purchase. The story is very simple, not threatening or exciting: just great for bedtime soothing. But why I completely love it is because the illustrations are so evocative. Windblown winter skies whirl leaves about and you can feel the cold - read it in the summer and you will be transported to a cold winter and be pleased that you aren't out there in the cold; read it in winter and you'll be glad to be inside away from the cold wind. You can embroider the story if you want, and just talk round the illustrations, or just read it. It is a great book and I heartily recommend it for anyone from two and a half upwards.

A favourite with the children
All the children at my nursery we're enthralled by this tale asking for it over and over again . They found it so funny when he moved all his stick house to get some peace

A story about patience & hard work.
This is one of my favourite Yeoman/Blake books, but they are all wonderful. This one is really good fun to read, because most of the characters are DREADFUL people, and those are the most fun to read to mischievous children. The Bear himself is lovely, thoughtful and patient. Bear does all the work making a warm winter house while his friends lark about all summer. He lets them share it, and even then they behave terribly, but Bear keeps fairly calm. There's another book about Bear & his pals, The Bear's Water Picnic, which you'll enjoy just as much as this one. Other brilliant Yeoman/Blake books include Mouse Trouble &, perhaps my favourite, Sixes and Sevens.
