Q: What color is this paper?

This paper is definitely white! The topsheet on the block under the front cover is black on its face (although the back of this topsheet is white). The glue around the edges of the block is black. Open the cover and look for the unglued space at the top edge of the block. You will need to remove the black topsheet. Insert a thin edged item (an old Amazon giftcard, perhaps) and gently work it into the white gap, then run it around the edges (through the black glue) to remove the topsheet. The purpose of watercolor paper on a block is to eliminate the need to tape a single sheet to a board--the block is the board! Keep the paper on the block to paint on it. (I tape the edges over the block anyway because I like a clean margin on my paintings, but it's totally unnecessary.)
