Hesitated buying this as the market is swamped with fire pits at much cheaper prices but it more than makes up for in build quality. It was bigger than I thought it would be and has a decent weight to it and the stainless steels obviously top quality but where it wins is in the fascinating tornado flames and almost no smoke which tends to swirl straight up. Heat output is high and after putting a bag of logs through it left nothing but a quarter inch of flaky ash residue, a quick wipe around inside the bowl with a brush and an upside down shake cleaned the lot out. Buy it with the base and lid and it will be happy left out in all weathers and last a lifetime. My wife loves it. Might even buy a smaller version for use on the beach at our caravan, oh and it comes with a really good quality carrying bag.

The media could not be loaded.  So far this is the best fire pit I've ever used. Very lightweight, easy to set up, fire was very very hot and consumed a decent amount of fire wood but needed less in at a time. Very wonderful invention! We will highly recommend. One downside: all accessories are separate purchases and are taking different amounts of time to arrive. This should be sold as a bundle with everything included in one box. Stand arrived the day after the fire pit and we are still waiting on the lid (eta 5 days after firepit).

This fire pit is great for keeping you warm. Because of its design the heat remains at a lower level and atmospheric loss is minimised

It is as good as the reviews. If you are like me and like a fire but hesitated because of the price , go ahead and buy it, I’m not kidding one of the best things I’ve bought. You could really think this is gas powered due to the roaring flames. Clever design , pulls air in to accelerate the flames. Amazing !!

We bought this to sit out in the garden at night.. it is amazing.. it keeps you really warm.. limited smoke very little smell on your clothes.. very easy to clean.. would recommend this to anyone

Over the years I've bought more than my fair share of fire pits. I've even made a couple of outdoor stoves from old propane bottles to try to satisfy the pyromaniac itch inside of me.A couple of weeks ago I bought the Forge from wirefires.com and although it's pretty epic, it doesn't fair as well as I'd hoped when it's windy as the smoke comes through the sides. It also goes through a lot of wood.The Solo Stove Bonfire was ridiculously easy to light thanks to the excellent airflow and once it gets going the secondary burn jets kick in and it's a truly beautiful thing to behold.It doesn't throw as much heat out horizontally as a traditional fire pit due to the insulating effect of the double wall, however the fact that most of the heat goes straight up helps combust most of the smoke generated so there's definitely a lot less smoke and a cleaner, hotter burn. It also fairs extremely well when there's a bit of a breeze and is still remarkably smoke free.It's a bit too big for us to take with us camping so the Solo Stove Ranger might be a better bet if you want something a bit more portable. I'm super happy with this purchase and I'm sure it will help my family enjoy more evenings out in the garden now that summer is on it's way.

Excellent combustion process. Very little in the way of coals is left once the fire is out: just ash. When lit, the bonfire looks pretty much how it is depicted. Lovely red flames shooting up beyond its fire ring. Contrary to other reviews, I find it gives off plenty of heat at the sides. The bonfire works well with relatively small amounts of wood required to produce a cheery blaze. Only need to use tinder and kindling once per fire: after that you just add a log when required. Very little smoke or sparks given off, which allows us to group around the fire without getting asphyxiated!As a purchaser of all the other stoves this brand manufactures, I am well acquainted with its “rocket stove” concept. The base gets “warm” at most, though the top three quarters does get blisteringly hot with the full fire raging! Once the fire is down to a single log, the base is cold enough to manhandle.The tote bag provided with the unit is very useful, both for transportation and for stowage.Not sure why the grate and ash pan aren't removable for cleaning. Means the entire bonfire needs to be inverted to clear it of ash. A minor point really. The unit is an attractive addition to our garden deck.Got this item delivered in 8 days including a weekend, so my hat is off to the shipping department!
