Pretty thin light weight steel, but it's hard steel and not flimsy. Comes already very sharp. Just add a handle (~1.25 inch diameter hardwood 24-30 inch length stick) and it's good to go. Used for cutting / pruning small branches.

It is what it shows on here but it's not a super high quality. That being said it definitely works for what it's supposed to. Sharp, very sharp. Just looks like it was formed by hand. Not a bad thing just not perfectly formed. Definitely works good though!

Nice tool good setup to add to a breakdown pick or trenching tool if you are handy with fabrication/ modding in wood & metal.Also works well as a standalone tool once you make a handle for it

Thought this would be a good fit for my garden tools. First had to custom make a handle to fit the head to, nither lowes or home depo carry a hanle that small to attach. So after i get that done i start using it and cuts grass just fine. Problem heppened when a blackberry shoot was in a clump of tall grass. Hit the vine and bent in an L. Hammered on it to get it back to straight but as you can see from the pictures it just bent the other way. This is not hardened steel its mild steel that is not sutable for tools.

Wow...way better than I had expected. Can't understand some of the "other" reviews. I like tools and often make my own. This falls in that category. I'm facing an onslaught of several invasive vines: kudzu, running blackberry, wisteria, English ivy, and wild Carolina jessamine. This tool was larger and heavier than I expected so I was very pleased. I have purchased at least half a dozen "sythe" type tools from Amazon and some from the local farm store. This I will place in the heavy duty farm class hand tool. Yes I will have to fabricate a handle but I do this anyway for most of the tools that come with a small handle. These vines will overgrow a chainlink gate so that it can't be closed. I usually make an extension handle out of steel or PVC tube (pipe or conduit) so this tool fits right in. These invasive vines can grow to considerable diameter so some of the flimsy tools don't last. This tool was just as pictured. I will make a 2 foot and a 5 foot handle and will probably buy a second unit of this item so I don't have to switch handles. Manganese steel tends to be very tough for "blade" or digging tools so again this is a good design feature. This tool looks like it was made to be used as a "harvest" tool in Chinese agriculture. Put a handle on it and you have a great tool which I haven't found in any local stores...only in the Amazon listings.

This is a low quality tool with no instructions.You need to use a 3/4 or 7/8 handle and #8x1/2 screw to mount the handle or it has problems.It gets low marks from me for the poor quality construction, but lower marks for the lack of any instructions on use or information about adding the handle (also, not included).I’ll use it, but won’t buy it again.

Great tool. I added a long handle and it works great.
