Large Size- 20” Misleading..(?)
Update- installed today. Was able to get the pump to fit inside the basket without having to modify. One pic depicts debris pulled from the check valve six weeks since last being cleared out. I’m confident this basket/net will solve that problemI just received and have yet to install but the upper diameter size is not 20”. The basket is but attached to the top of the basket is a plastic ring to which the net/bag is stapled/attached to. When one takes that ring into account, the diameter at the top is reduced nearly 4” to roughly 16.25”. My Dayton sump pump is 16-23/32” at its widest point, thus the reason I purchased a “20 basket”… R&R of my pump is no easy feat and requires a boom truck with a cherry-picker hydraulic lift to remove it from its concrete sump. So I won’t be doing that today. I suspect that I’ll be able to easily trim that plastic ring some/enough to allow the pump to ultimately fit into the basket. If need be, I can do without it completely. The reason I’ve purchased this is because I’ve had problems with turtles swimming up the 16” inlet pipe into the sump, getting tangled up in the pump impeller and having pieces of turtle clog up the up-stream check ball valve. For my needs relative to the turtles there’s little doubt this will solve that problem… A bit pricy for what it is but if it does indeed work and last, it will be well worth it to me. I’ll update down the road once modified, installed and has some use under its belt.
