Great product, But wheres the back plate?
This is a great device for cooling your NVME, You might have to remove the cheap metal cover they put on your NVME, but it's worth it.This Heatsink works great. The only Con I have found is that it is missing the back plate that the passive one has. I would have preferred that be included in this one as well, not all NVME drives have memory dimm's on one side, some have them on both sides and without the back piece you are going to run into issues. Also to the people considering this but afraid that the clips are too small... They are tight, but NOT too small. Be smart and they fit with little force and they work great. If that bothers you. Zip tie them on. there is no reason not to if need be.

Quiet and Cool - Unit it's not Quiet
I bought two of these - one for my home computer and one for my work computer. The unit in my home computer has been great - this unit keeps the NVME drive cool and the fan is quiet while doing so. It's also pretty awesome that it comes with a fan splitter cable so you can still connect it to a fan header on your motherboard even if all of the fan ports are filled up.The one in my work computer was great until the fan started to make a horrible squeaking sound. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with running the computer 24/7 for a few months (unlike my home computer with is powered off the majority of the time) or the quality of the fan, but Amazon was kind enough to get me a replacement with next day shipping. Fortunately, I'm not using the work NVME as hard during this time so the passive cooling effects should be sufficient until the replacement arrives.Overall a great product, but I had to knock it 1 star both overall and material quality since the fan did start to make noise that was unbearable.

Works very well.
My NVMe M.2 was very hot to the touch, but after installing the small cooler the cooling fins were barely warm. The quality is very good and installation was simple. There is a fan header nearby on my mobo so I just plugged the connector to it and turn the computer on. No noise, no vibration, totally quiet cooling.

Easy, compact, works.
I applied this cooler to a Samsung 970 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD 512 GB on an ASUS Prime Z390-A motherboard. Application was easy. I did remove the SSD paper label before applying the silicon pad for better thermal conductivity. I also had to use a fan cable extension to reach the M.2 fan header on the motherboard. I used the M.2 socket near the CPU, but because of its low profile, it doesn't interfere with the Noctua CPU cooler or the nearby graphics card. The SSD did well on a bench test, so I haven't looked into details like fan control and SSD temperature.

At first, it was excellent, but after about a year, they become unbearably loud.
The ease of installation and material quality are very good! I bought the first-gen version of this device several years ago and returned it because it was cheaply made, and loud. The surprising part is that this device keeps my 2nd NVMe drive over 1/2 the temperature of the NVMe drive that is mounted directly to the motherboard with a large heatsink.Update at 90 days:Initially, I was able to run the fan at a fixed full speed of 7400 RPM, and it was completely silent. At 90 days I had to lower max speed to 5600 RPM to run silently, but even at that speed, my SSD is running at 28c. vs my heat-sink only SSD which runs at 47c. I'll update again if this speed needs to decrease further.Update at the end of a year:Unfortunately, I'm having to lower my rating. Llike many of the reviews stated the noise that these give off is unbearable. It's a slow decline, so it took me a very long time to notice it, but when I finally did I had to lower the speed to only sixty percent duty cycle! For the price paid, that is just unacceptable, especially when this is in the price range of a Noctua fan, the gold standard of fans!

Great design, but fan bearing went bad...
Similar to another users experience, mine worked great for about 3 weeks then the fan started buzzing VERY audibly. I was shocked how hot these SSD's got, so this is one of the better executed designs out there as it is more than just a heat sink. I am exchanging it for a new one (thanks Amazon for taking it back despite being past return period). Hope the new one will last.

Better than expected
First impression: well packaged, made with decent materials, never heard of Advancing Gene, and WTH with the instructions? My pictures show the difference between my motherboard's(Giggabyte z390 AORUS Pro Wifi) passive heatsink and this heatsink w/ 20mm fan. I ran the same benchmark on the same SSD in the same M.2 slot one immediately after swapping one heatsink for the other. I also waited 5 minutes after each benchmark to observe how well they cooled down from hot on idle.TLDR: kept it cooler than passive heatsink at start-up idle and under load.Other thoughts: the option with the fan looks exactly like the "Enhanced Version, for Desktop Computers" minus the groove and top shroud w/ fan. So if the fan ever fails i can probably just slide the top off (top does slide, albeit slowly) and either replace the fan or let it work passively. I personally haven't observed any fan noise coming from it outside of my case. For the price it should have color options.

1 star because it came in the box
I couldn't give this a zero star rating because it did arrive in the box. That is really the best thing about it. Room temp is about 68*F and with this items off of it, it runs about 47*F at idle. When I go to play a game or Photoshop, it rams up to about 55*F. With this item installed, I get about 44*F and 57*F at full load. Thought I might have installed it backwards as the instructions do say to make sure the fan is not over the controller portion of the NVME, and it isn't. I will say that I do have a low volume of air moving across just for noise sake, but if I turn up my fans to a tolerable level, I still get the same performance whether this thing is on it or off. I'm sorry I bought it. I should have just stuck with my gut instinct and just got one that had a little taller of fins for the surface area. I HAD to go fancy with a tiny fan that I assume will just die in 6 months. I guess we can award the single star that I have to give to the fan. It is quiet. Not sure its doing the job I want it to, but it is at least spinning. I don't suggest this item at all.
