AmtechF1280 8 Piece 13mm (1/2″) HSS (high Speed Steel) Blacksmith’s Drill bit Set

Brilliant drill bits! I needed to drill a few 25mm (1") holes in some 4mm plate and using my drill press on a slow speed the drill simply cut true all the way through. One word of advice; if you are new to drilling these sizes in steel DO NOT use a standard DIY drill! You'll do two things; either damage your wrist or burn out the drill. Holes this size are designed to be drilled using drill presses with slow speeds and strong motors, using cutting fluid does help reduce heat, thus keeping the drill sharp but you will find it hard going using a hand-held power drill. Personally I would not recommend it unless you are drilling plastic or wood perhaps but these drill bits are designed for steel. Nice, true cut without the edge breaking or blunting, overall an excellent set of drill bits.

Didn't work at all on cast iron. I'm trying to repair a broken pub table by inserting a central rod. I'd already got a 12mm hole but needed it to be 25mm hence buying these bits starting at 14mm. Cast iron is supposed to be easy to drill but I tried to work up to the larger sizes by starting gradual with the 14mm bit but it wouldn't touch it.

Arrived on time, I've only used one drill bit at the moment, it's done the job without any damage to the drill.

Very happy with drills and Shure they will be of good use in the future and when orders the package arrived promptly

Good set, drills are sharp out of the box, would buy again.The box came with a crack in the lid but aside from that i am happy with the purchase.

Drills were fine came in a wooden box not as advertised a aluminium box.
