You just plug it into the jack of the keyboard.
I brought this for my daughter keyboard. She have a 88 keys piano, but sometimes she play away from the house. So the keyboard that she have didn't have a foot pedal. This foot pedal works well.

Sustain Pedal for Yamaha Electronic Keyboard
I absolutely love playing my electronic keyboard! The pedal provides a lovely tone. When I play my piano, while wearing my headphones, I feel as though I am magically performing beautifully before a king.

Pedal was ok until it broke. Can’t repair it.
Bought this in December 2018 for my husband. Broke this week, May18th, 2020. The pedal itself is metal but almost everything else is plastic. The plastic didn’t hold up to the amount of usage he gave it. (About 2-3 hours, 4-5 times per week.) Need to use better material for design.
