Initial impressions after one day...When I opened the box I was initially underwhelmed and thought the watch looked rather gaudy, with a large face and quite blingy in a not quite gold finish. In fact, I closed the box lid and left it for a few hours as I needed to do a few chores but when I came back to the watch and actually put it on, I realised my first impressions were wrong. It is quite an elegant timepiece and actually, rather understated. The watch face is minimalist but with big enough numerals for my bifocal eyesight to cope with. The watch band is a premium leather and the face is sapphire crystal (something I always look for in a watch). It is a smartwatch of sorts but not in the sense of an Apple Watch or an Android Wear watch (probably more akin to a FitBit) in that it pairs with your phone via Bluetooth to send data (based on your wrist movement or not as the case may be) to an app on your phone - in my case an iPhone 7 Plus. It was remarkably easy to set up the phone with the app MotionX-365 and pair it to the Mondaine. The watch itself is comfortable to wear, looks good (now I have got used to it - I normally wear a very slim Raymond Weil Maestro) and with the added "smart" features, I think Mondaine are on to a winner. I like it a lot and so do my wife and style conscious daughter. The current Amazon price of £379 is fair but the RRP of £700 is way off beam.Two days in - absolutely loving this watch - still 5* but one minor niggle - would love the hands to be luminous =)

My husband is thrilled with this watch and has been wearing it every day since receiving it to review three weeks ago.The watch itself is beautifully designed, it has a circular watch face, a brushed gold plated stainless steel case with beveled edges and a good quality black leather strap. Charging is not necessary as it comes with an integrated battery which should last for at least two years.The Mondaine Smart Watch is designed to work in line with your mobile phone, my husband has an iPhone 6s Plus and it was very easy to set up the watch to work seamlessly with it. It hooks up via the 'MotionX-365' app that you need to download to your mobile phone first before you try to connect the two devices together.The Mondaine Watch App allows you to access the smart functions of the watch, which include for example: • Activity tracking (calories, steps and distance walked/run) … includes inactivity alerts. • Automatic time and date function (no need to set) • Sleep tracker and wake up alarm functions … also includes a power nap function. • Stopwatch functionAs an elegant timepiece this watch is first class and it also does a pretty good job as a smart watch. It doesn't have as many functions as some of the smart watches out there, but the functions it does have are the ones that matter and are most likely to be used.
