Q: Would this mount be adequate for 20lb antenna mounted on a 1-2' mast? I'm concerned this mount isn't robust enough.

If you are able to get the mounting bolts into studs, I would say this would definitely hold a 20 lb antenna on a 1-2 foot mast.

Q: What is the largest pole diameter the bracket will hold?

I installed a 2" pole today with an outer diameter of 2.36" and I had to bend the bracket inward to accomidate the "U" bracket.

Q: what gauge is the steel of the brackets? 12 Gauge or 14 gauge or something else?

Exact gauge doesn’t matter. These brackets are strong. I used them on a 25 foot steel telescopic pole for a TV antenna with a 4ft Ham antenna on the top bracketed at 5 and 20 foot to my house without needing any guide wires.

Q: What is the 1 single sized screw for?

Drill a hole for that screw in your mast thru the hole in the u-bolt mount. This will prevent the mast from turning in the wind, etc.
