I received this game in excellent condition. When you open the box you can see the high quality and a lot of detail. The gameboard is made from wood with one mancala at each side. The bowls are smoothly shaped. The glass stones are very well done in different colors. Their size is perfect and there is room enough for them inside the bowls. What I also like is the print "Jaques of London" in black text on the front of the Mancala board. This gives a extra touch of quality on the game.Instructions of the Mancala game are simple and clearly explained. Mancala has many different rules which you can lookup on the internet. With this board, you can play all variations.In ancient times or still in Africa (my home is in Gaborone Botswana Africa) this game is simply played by making those bowls in the soil and using seeds or small stones. Those glass pieces included in this Mancala boardgame, give you the feel and touch of that ancient game style.You can almost touch that ancient atmosphere; on a Saturday evening people joining together around the fire, telling stories and some playing the Mancala with around them the jungle or in our case the bush noises.Mancala is a very strategic game and the players need a lot of thinking. Nobody could find it. I told Jaques of London about my problem. They suggested contacted Amazon Prime because that was the company who actually sent it. If that would not work, the would send me a new Mancala game.After a few days with no luck, I bought the game again because in my opinion it was not Jaques of London their mistake because at the Bpost tracking page the parcel was delivered. I informed Jaques of London about it and they suggested to give me half price refund. After that a colleague came back from holiday and found my parcel on her desk. I informed Jaques of London about this and that I also want to repay the refund added with 2 euro for the trouble I caused.I received a friendly email back that instead of refunding Jaques of London, spend that money on a charity. I will do so.Companies like Jaques of London deserves our respect. Buying games from them, gives you an extra good feeling because you know they have their heart on the right place. For me this gesture is extra special because my home is in Gaborone Botswana Africa and when I am there, I see the poverty all around me.Thank you Jaques of London for your nice gesture. I will buy chocolates for double the refund and give them to very poor children in Botswana, so they also can enjoy what we accept as normal.

We opened the box this morning and haven't stopped playing it since as it is so addictive and so much fun. It's simple to learn-our 6 year old has been playing it with us, but it's not easy. You can totally see why the board was carved on the Roman Forum steps and on statues over the ancient world by bored soldiers.Each player has a side of the board and you are trying to get as many beads as you can into your Mancala (bigger bowl at the end). So you play to empty your bowls in a manner that doesn't fill your opponent's bowls or if it does it fills them to benefit you. By delaying empting them so it circles around into your bowls, or overfills theirs so they have to fill yours in their turn. So there's a lot of strategy involved.It doesn't help that we're hoarding and swapping around the beads we think are more pretty or more/less lucky.It's beautifully made as is everything made by Jaques, no chips or rough bits. The beads/stones are each individual and lovely to look at. We always hoard certain colours in every game which maybe distracting us from winning. It could have done with having a few spare stones/beads and the board maybe an inch bigger as the cups are filled quickly by the beads. But you could substitute them easily.

The game is very easy to play and enjoyable, but the bowls are way too small. You can barely fit 6 marbles in one bowl let alone more, without them falling out, which makes the game quite clunky. The marbles and wood are of a good quality; I just wish the bowls were larger.

Bought this as a gift for my partner as we are trying to reduce the time we waste on screens as a family. We have bought several 'old style' games in recent weeks, however this is the first one from Jaques. It is absolutely stunningly beautiful. Bigger than I expected and perfectly presented as a gift with a lovely little bow on the box. The quality is outstanding. The stones have a handy little draw-string bag to keep them safe in the box.We have yet to play it but we are looking forward to the weekend, once we have learned the rules I will be teaching my two teenagers!Will without doubt be buying more of their products.

I've got a couple of Jaques of London games. They are great quality for a good price.This mancala board is really solid, solid wood board with hemisphere glass nuggets. The delivery packaging is beautiful complete with ribbon bow and printed paper wrap in the box.The only problem I have with the set is that the baskets (including the players mancala areas) are too small to hold enough pieces during play. I'm thinking of using baking beans instead.Solid set otherwise but that means, fine as it is, I've just paid for a board.

Beautifully made board, the glass counters are lovely although they are a little large for the bowls once there are more than 5 but it doesn't detract from the joy of playing this intriguing game. It came very well packaged.

Arrived quickly and well packaged. Impressed with the item - wood and glass beads are a pleasure to handle, aesthetically pleasing too. Has been a hit with my seven year old who picked it up in no time, and loves playing it. Exactly as I'd hoped, to help with improving number sense. Four year old is also getting into it. Good value for money.

Great game, board and stones of a very good standard, thanks. I appreciate there are a lot of variations to the game of Mancala, but the instructions included within this product were very 'thin'. Would of helped with a bit more detail on how to play the game to the most common rules / variation

Mein Sohn war nach einem Urlaubsaufenthalt hin und weg von diesem Spiel, so dass ich ihm diese Ausführung bestellt habe. Der Karton ist stabil und schaut hübsch aus, das "Spielbrett" sehr hochwertig und schön verarbeitet. Die passenden Glassteine sind allerdings viel zu groß für die Aushöhlung. Wir benutzen eh selbstgesammelte Steinchen, wer aber die Kaufentscheidung auch wegen der Glassteine trifft, sollte dies noch einmal überdenken.

Meine Tochter liebt dieses Spiel auch wenn sie es nicht 100% nach Regeln spielt. Die Steine und die Kuhlen haben es ihr angetan. Im Kindergarten gibt es das Spiel nämlich und sie wollte es unbedingt auch zuhause haben.

Das Spiel macht echt viel Spaß. Die Qualität sieht wertig und robust aus. Allerdings sind die Löcher etwas klein, sodass es ab 10 Murmeln schwierig wird.
