Q: Could I bury this in soil to contain a plant with an invasive root system?

I doubt, but do not know for certainty, that this pot will achieve your desired goal. the pots are designed so that plants self prune their roots by exposure to the air. If they are buried, the roots will probably grow out of the pots, through it's air holes.

Q: Is there holes in the side of the pot? If so how does the dirt not fall out?

Yes, there are holes after the first two rows at the top. However, soil, compost, or potting mix do not run out the side holes. Sand would be a different story. There are also holes on the bottom, more like a grate. Depending on the media, you might have a problem. I use a thin layer of clay pebbles on the bottom to avoid any possible problems. These pots are great. I've used them for avocados, lemons, bananas, tomatillos, tomatoes, peppers, and papayas. It's almost impossible to over water these pots, and the root development is tremendous.

Q: What is the size of the container?

It's about the size of a 5 gallon bucket. they are great grow containers, but require more frequent watering.
