Found out this is available for free in pdf form
Paid what I thought was a reasonable price for this, but found later it's available in PDF form for free. It's a good resource for learning about Replication and applies to more than SQL 2012 as replication hasn't changed much over the years.

Outstanding book
Book ReviewFundamentals of SQL SERVER 2012Sebastian Meine, Ph.D.This book was a pleasure to read.Sebastian offers a breezy introduction to SQL Server 2012 replication that touches on all the main points. And it was well edited - you won't stumble across any typos or grammar errors (nice). He carefully explains subtleties, like security, without overwhelming the reader with a lot of jargon. After providing an overview of replication in general (publisher, distributor, subscriber, push vs. pull, replication agents etc.) the book handles transactional replication in detail before examining merge replication and the differences between the two.Exercises are everywhere, so you can build his replications on your own servers while reading the book. This book has chapters devoted to the distributor, publication access list, SQL Server Agent jobs, conflict resolution for merges, and replication monitor. These are important subjects in their own right, and he has emphasized that importance by these sections. But an additional chapter on using the more limited SQL Server Express would be welcomed.Sebastian concludes with a section on troubleshooting, which is really important since replication errors can be difficult to interpret.Who should buy this book?Anyone who knows SQL Server basics (but wants to replicate) would be well-served by reading this book before digging into BOL.

Great introduction to replication
The writer really knows his stuff. I am someone using SQL server for years but never used replication, this is a great introduction with clear explanations for this important feature of SQL server.

This books will help readers new to replication to start right away.
Very detailed steps allow readers to comprehend easily. However, this book looks more like a notepad document rather than a book.

Excellent Compact Book for Advanced SQL Server Developers
Red Gate recently released Fundamentals of SQL Server 2012 Replication authored by Dr. Sebastian Meine and it contains 14 chapters. While chapter 1 provides an overview of SQL Server Replication, Chapter 2 examines the steps required to configure basic replication setup such as setting up the distributor, publication and subscription.Chapter 3 examines the role of the distributor including the best practices to be followed. Chapters 4 & 5 provide an overview of replication agents and transactional replication related to publication. The author examines the steps related to configure publication access list in chapter 6.You will learn transactional replication aspects related to subscription in addition to configuration of retention. The next chapter covers SQL Server agent jobs such as snapshot, log reader, distribution and replication maintenance in addition to the coverage of the steps related to create SQL Server agent jobs.Chapters 9, 10 and 11 examine merge replication aspects related to replication agents, publication, subscription and conflicts. Chapter 13 provides coverage of the usage of replication monitor. Among other concepts you will learn the steps required to view information about a publisher, transactional publications, merge and snapshot publications. The author has provided detailed step-by-step explanation along with relevant screenshots in addition to diagrams, screenshots and source codes. In the final chapter, you will learn the steps related to troubleshoot publication, subscription including coverage of tracer tokens and date problems.Fundamentals of SQL Server 2012 Replication will be useful for database administrators, SQL Server trainers and for those developers who would like to explore advanced techniques associated with SQL Server.

Great Guide for Accidental and Novice DBAs.
SQL Server 2012 Replication is a straight-forward, no-frills introduction to one of SQL Server's more complicated tools. The book explains very clearly what replication is, how you would go about setting it up, and common maintenance/monitoring tasks associated with it. In each chapter the author walks the reader through the various wizards SQL provides and explains how or why you might choose one option over another. As an experienced DBA, I did not find anything in this book that I did not already know, and that is both a plus and a minus for this book. If you are already replicating several systems, and dealing on a day-to-day basis with issues caused by obscure or esoteric errors, then this book isn't for you. It doesn't dive deeply into the inner workings and various system stored procedures, views, and tables that maintain replication on a SQL server, nor does it offer many clever tricks and tips for getting the most out of a replicated system. However, I would have killed to have a book like this when I started my career. It is the perfect introduction for a novice on what could be a very challenging, confusing set of chores with a relatively steep learning curve. Bottom line: if you are just starting out as a database administrator, or have been tasked with setting up your first replicated system, you should consider getting this book.

It doesn't need to be complicated...
Sebastian provides us with a clear and lucid introduction to Transactional Replication in SQL Server. For the accidental or novice DBA this can be a daunting topic. No one to date has made the basics of this subject more accessible. Without the fundamentals that Sebastian provides, we would be ill prepared to administer this oft times necessary component to modern database systems. I highly recommend this book.

Ramdas Baghel
I read this book. I found this is very basic book on SQL Server Replication, well written for beginners.Title of this book "Fundamentals of SQL Server 2012 Replication" confusing because in whole book there is no information about what new in SQL Server 2012 replication or even there is no discussion about SQL Server version 2012 & replication.Again I like this book and suggest for beginners. Thanks you Sebastian & Kalen Delaney as technical reviewer.
